Neutral Newbie

often we hear of news of people jumping or drowning to their deaths.

y do people do it?

i think mostly is either because of broken heart or broken wallet, ie either love or money problems.

does anyone have any different views?

The same reason why people buy private properties vs HDB.

Or buy luxury car vs bread n butter cars.

The reasons are so myriad.

But one common factor is the lost in desire to live.

Yes. Unlike the perception that suicides are because of the lack of courage to continue living life, it often takes great courage to overcome the fear of death and choose to end one's life.

Usually this is because the person has come to a situation where living feels worse than death itself.

Whichever the case, this trend seems likely to continue in the near term.

I believe it could also be due to recurrent streaks of "bad luck" - things don't seem to go right, or go wrong perpetually. The person may then feel that his "bad luck" will inevitably and inadvertently continue, and the only way to break the 'chain' reaction is simply to... end his life.

They commit suicide when all hope is lost

well said.

yeah.. hope is lost, lost the meaning of life, nothing is in place or right.

tried so hard but yet, still fail.

tired of living, thus death probably a better wayout.

cowardly, yes. but what more can one do? 心事谁人知

But I also sometimes feel that it's just a matter of perspective and a simple reframing of the mind, you can get though it, you see people without hand without legs also have the willing to fight on in life....
