Appearance-wise, is a very good looking car, with a 2-tone interior, as well as a modern-looking back finish.

Since it is designed with a 1.6l engine, there should not be any problem power-wise travelling in it.

Maybe the low power will contribute to an improved fuel consumption, but still good enough for day-to-day travel.

Dropped into showroom last Friday and looked at cruze for my wife. Wanted a normal sedan with some road presence and good sound insulation. The cruze did great on both attributes and nice asethetics for an American brand, but its a serious letdown in pick-up speed. Even the SE can see my signs of fustration when i tried to put my foot down on the pedal to 'push' the car, and she immediately acknowledged that the pick-up speed is 'compensated' by the 5-stars safety rating and layers of sound insulation material, and that the car will run nice and smooth at higher speed (which car wouldn't?). I was subtlely alarmed when she mentioned that this 2011 cruze has been slightly tuned up to provide more horsepower..

Well, again, I think if you have kids and family, and you value sound insulation and road presence, this car is suitable. Nice curves and look different from others in the category.

Cant comment on FC as I don;t trust manufacturer FC specs.

But don't even harbour the thought of doing a aspirated right turning at traffic junction as I think one will really to feel if the 5 star safety rating will be tested... i am a 70% sedated driver with 30% need for slightly more speed than usual... This car needs at least 15 horsepower more to push the metal body into reasonable motion when moving off.

Want power, forget Cruze.

Typical actual fuel consumption is abt 8-9km/ltr.

Actually the SE is wrong, pick up is not usually compensated by safety rating. My Sirion 1.5 scores 4 stars in Eurocap with a weight of 980kg,yet pick up is not sacrificed.

I tot a cruze weigh 1.3 to 1.4tonnes? If so, not a good basis for comparison. Drove a Sirion but dun really like its light weight n bumpiness on the road. Heavy car usually higher FC but doesn't mean lighter car lower FC. I used to rent Jap cars for a ride.. Sadly due to my drivin habit... 10-11 km per ltr. Driving habit plays a part ESP when u like to Cheong first immediately after it turns green

Sirion is a NA city driving car therefore its lightweight. But i do agree Sirion does not really tackle the bumps well. Yah i do agreed driving habit plays a part, what is worse is the lightweight and zippiness of the Sirion 1.5.
