thanks for the recommendations.

for Fujikawaguchigo, theres a place recommended by my colleagues who went there earlier this year. still checking out other alternatives. will take a look at Highland Hotel too.

http://www.weekendshuffle.com/

the last time we went to Tokyo, we bought the JR pass. will research and decide again once our itinerary is more firmed up.

we will be staying at a friend's place in Tokyo, so free accom  :XD:

my wife is a big fan...

In Tokyo, apartment is so small.  Rare to find free accom.

JR pass can only use on JR.

Whereby PASMO/SUICA can be used all transport including bus.

yeah this is a concern for me, cos i'm taking JAL redeye to Haneda and reaching tokyo in morning. worried about rush hour.

Last Friday, my fren reach Haneda like 6am.  Lock up his luggage in the train station & went jalan jalan.

By the time, i arrive around 1+pm.  We went to our AirBnB accom together.

took the same flight last trip but on SQ. 6am in the morning, the traffic is ok. I took those airport bus to the hotel (less than an hour from haneda to shinjuku) and dumped my luggage there before going for breakfast 7ish.

At the Japan Travel Association we are embarking on our Digital Marketing Concept using

forums where members share their travel photos to create awareness and interest that wow other

members who think I would like to go there. Members can also share their travel tips like car rental

and Japan rail pass that only foreigners can buy with unlimited travel at a very attractive price.

We would also like to attract more young ladies to go and if you need any advice or tips I have a big

one to share. Japan is so much more than Hokkaido and some of the pics are other places in

Japan.

We don't encourage this sort of thing as a few seconds after this shot was taken he fell into the sea

Like a cooked sushi in reverse. Lucky I had 2 rounds of it as I never found it any where else.

If people considering going Osaka / Kyoto I would also suggest going

Shirakawa go and Takayama. Takayama is in Gifi and Gifu beef is famous.

Not as expensive as Kobe but very nice. The other place I really like is

Hiroshima, very nice city and if you go can visit Mazda factory. I saw them

making the MX5 there.

I don't think its possible to see all of Japan in one trip

so maybe better to go a few times. First time maybe

Tokyo and surrounding areas. Second trip central Japan

with Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto and Hiroshima and third trip

Hokkaido.

Anyone knows if u are taking the shinkansen, u need to book the tickets there at tokyo station after u collect your JR Pass right?

Do children below 6 get their own seat, or i still have to pay for them to get a seat.

No one is able to see all of Japan in a lifetime.

Its too big a country to cover all of Japan.

Major cities would be possible lah. [:p]

Please find your answer here https://www.japanrailpass.com.au/travelling-with-children-do-your-kids-need-a-jr-pass/

And btw, if you want reserved seat for yourself, you still need to go to the green window (in Japanese its call midori-no-madoguchi meaning counter) to get the reserved seat.

Having JR Pass does not entitle you to have reserved seat automatically.

5) If you want to use reserved seating, be sure to get seat reservations before boarding (no additional payment needed). To obtain a reserved-seat ticket, present JAPAN RAIL PASS at the ticket office (Midori-no-madoguchi) at a JR station, a Travel Service Center, or a sales office of a major travel agency.......blah blah blah

extract from http://www.japanrailpass.net/en/about_jrp.html#riyou

Have fun in Japan!
