Hyundai Avante 1.6A Maintenance Cost

i have a same question too,

 

looking to purchase 2nd hand cars,my choices are pretty wide

 

1. Hyundai Avante

2. Mazda 3 SP

3. Chevrolet Aveo Sedan

4. Toyota Corolla Axio

 

i considered hatchback too

 

1. Fiat Punto

2. Perodua Myvi

3. Daihatsu Sirion

 

Main concern for me is reliability of the car, as i will be buying a 4 yrs or more car, so i hope it last me at least another 4 yrs or even better till end of COE without major breakdowns.

 

Appreciate all your inputs, newbie here.

I am a newbie here and need some advice on servicing Avante. I have just got a 2006 Hyundai Avante 1.6A as my first car. Its mileage is 81500km. The previous owner sent the car for a package B (instead of the recommended package C) in Komoco for its 80000km servicing. Hence I thought of sending it again for further servicing.

 

I am thinking of servicing the following:

a) Change ATF

How many litres is required? According to car manual, it is 6.8l. My stockist says 4l.

b) Change spark plugs.

I am thinking of getting iridium IK16L. But my stockist say this model is not suitable for avante. Anybody install this? How many spark plugs do I need?

c) Change Air Filter

 

In addition, I realize my air con have some smell when I first start up my engine in the morning and occasionally smell outside dust when i travel behind heavy vehicles. What can I do to improve the air con?

 

Any workshop that you can recommend as well?

Can someone advise me on the steering wheel controls for my car? is it possible to buy on ebay and fix them right away? it says Avante HD. i am not sure what it means in SG.

Avante HD mean Avante( your current ride 2007-2010). If Anante MD means the new Elantra 2011 till now.

 

If you want to fix the steering wheel control, u can go Tong Lee Wee Accessories or Mancando, they hold the stock and are specialise in Hyundai,Kia etc.

 

I think its not worth save that little money by order from e -bay etc and get third party to install it, if later got problem who going to warranty it?

Avante - standard release

Avante S - comes with double DIN audio, leather seat, signal indicator on mirror (I think)

Avante RS - comes with Avante S + body kit, 17" rim and different dashboard

From SJP onwards, there's a different version of Gamma engine

 

-Does all models have rear disk brake?

I think all advante comes with rear disc (no drum)

I done all my servicing with Komoco motor.

 

They are using Shell Helix Ultra (not sure is it 5W-40 or 30) for the engine oil. And for ATF, I think they are sticking to Hyundai brand. ATF is changed at 40KM interval. Of course, you kiasu, you can change every 20KM :)

Perhaps the most common problem I have seen so far is it's EPS (Electronic Power Steering).

 

During your check, try to full-lock to both direction and look for any abnormalities (e..g kick back, high resistance and sound).

 

Multi-storey carpark and u-turn will be a good test.

Hi need some advice here regarding my avante shock absorber. I was quoted $340 for 4 pcs absorbers by stockists.. Called up cityauto testing at sin Ming and was quoted $730 inclusive of labor charges $150...is that a reasonable mark up? Thanks in advance

 

 

Stockist quote u $340 n sin min ws abt $580 excl labour. Obvious sin min ws more ex.

 

Try getting oem shocks sud b abt $70-80 each so 4pcs abt $320 n u get ws to fix fr abt $150.

Like that u only pay $470 n u know e quality of e shocks.

 

Shop supply u dunno what quality cheepo shocks ty give u.

I wud take e forte but try to bargain e price down somemore.

All e cars u mentioned wil easily last more than 10yrs with regular maintenance.

 

Anyway i drove a corona cd till 19yrs till sold. Hyundai excel 1.5auto till 10yrs n now an optra already 7yrs.

 

All cars no major problems n gave good service till i sold.

 

A lot depends on how u maintain n treat yr car.
