KARTer 2nd Gear February 20, 2012 Author Share February 20, 2012 Saab already gone bust ... not an option, for a new purchase. VW Passat? It's not even in this league to compare, IMHO Base on 'total' picture senario: performance (not just how fast, but the total performance package generated by the setup/engine etc), plus 'abstract' stuff like image/brand etc, plus even monentary factors eg resalve value / cost of ownership etc... i know this is a wide 'net' and some may say buying car is about choices not necessary emcompassing all the above aspect, well lets try to be as 'comprehensive' as we could go... On one extreme, there are buyers who buy a car just because they 'like it', others go thru a highly detailed matrix of pros/cons etc...
Theoldjaffa Hypersonic February 20, 2012 Share February 20, 2012 Saab already gone bust ... not an option, for a new purchase. VW Passat? It's not even in this league to compare, IMHO Referring to conti saloon car class hor, not supercars nor exotics. my view is that 1st tier for Merc, BMW, Audi, Jaguar. vw, Volvo, Saab, Alfa are in the "2nd tier" of Conti saloons, followed by the likes of Renault, pug, fiat, skoda etc Top tier for the ultra lux brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce etc.

Blackwall_books Neutral Newbie February 20, 2012 Share February 20, 2012 For info, Saab used to compete amongst the likes of M/B/A/J & seen as better than Volvo/Alfas. They were truly an altenative to M/B/A. Pity GM squeezed the life out of this quirky car make. Saab, the pioneers of turbo, RIP...
