PETALING JAYA: A plan to rebadge the Volkswagen Polo compact car as a Proton Saga replacement would be a positive move for Proton Holdings Bhd and the domestic automotive parts sector, said research analysts.

OSK Research said in a report that this could help the national carmaker recapture market share and benefit the local automotive component makers in the event that the rebadged Polo result in huge production volumes catering to the export market.

As was discussed in another thread, not only will the VW Polo be rebadged, it will also be renamed 'Bola Kuda' ... or Horse Ball in literal translation [bigcry][laugh]

So in Singapore, those Polo owners will be seen as driving Bola Kuda by visiting Malaysians [:p][:/]

Most importantly, will they use the famous dry clutch?

Maybe all the car is the same, but with AT gearbox... in this case... buy Proton more reliable. :D

Haha this is a good reason not to buy a VW.

As for proton, it's a hopeless car company.

I'm glad BMW and Mercedes don't do that
