It should still not be sufficient for WP to lose becos of him. He will get 1-2% votes at most and can't see WP getting less than 50%. Unless it becomes a 4 or 5 corner fight, then it maybe possible for WP to lose...

All except SDA, RP and SF. This 3 parties have yet to declare they won't contest. [laugh]

lucky tan jee say is not contesting. That guy also a semi-clown. And there are enough goondoos in SG who would vote for him. Because of him and tan kin lian made Tony tan the winner in president's election.

 

Singapore opposition really no cohesion..

i think you give him too much credit leow. I'm certain he won't be contesting come Nomination Day. Most likely will create some ruckus and KPKB in front of media. He is a publicity whore lah. :D

NSP, SDP and SDA

 

no words from SPP, RP, PKMS ... [:(]

 

SPP did issue a statement to say they won't be contesting. PKMS is part of SDA. RP is silent so far. There is actually another even smaller party call Socialist Front which is quiet too.

The other opposition parties know, the people want to see a straight fight between PAP & WP. Any other parties or persons who pokes their noses into this fight will lose their credibility.

 

I hope for Mr Zeng's sake his act is just a publicity stunt and he does not actually submit his papers.

It will not do him any good.

 

In a way, this by-election will be a very strong barometer of public sentiments post-GE2011.

 

Maintaining the status quo (WP wins again) is perhaps in Singapore's best interest.

How did he even end up as a WP candidate in the past..

 

WP under JBJ in the past is more starved of quality candidates and so they are less fussy on the quality of candidates who wants to join them. As long as anyone wants to join, they will be accepted. The current WP under LTK is different. LTK and Slyvia puts potential members who expressed interest in joining through a series of interviews and check on their CV before they are accepted. Even if they are high calibre but if LTK and SL got reason to doubt their sincerity in pursuing a career as an opposition politician, they will be rejected. Tan Jee Say was actually interviewed by LTK and SL but in the end he din join WP. Not sure if he was rejected by WP after the interview or he prefers to join SDP.
