any recommendation for 10W40?

mileage is 135k, age 14 yrs old.

clock less than 10k per year.

using carlube 5w30 but my mechanic feedback it may be too thin for the engine

something cheap and good if possible..

Trust technology rather than mechanics.

I have only used OWS engine oil once and went on to more reputable brands.

So you used it twice then. First time and last time.

in our local context, we should only look at the W40 or W30 right?

the first number, not applicable ?

Thats right. The first number is how the oil flows in cold weather.

Our weather never below 20C so not applicable to us at all.

theres a guideline to the type of oil to be used on a car.

1) specifications of the manufacturer e.g. API/MB/VW/Porsche/....

2) weight, based on kilometers on the car.

3) purpose/use of the vehicle.

4) original factory manual for readings.

all those 3 contribute to giving you the 'right' answer.

i run one oil for track and one oil for street.

Have to choose 3 out of 4?

This oil, if you noticed, doesn't have the For Gasoline Engine round chop.
