Jman888 Moderator July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 4 years for human trafficking, what would the sentence be like if he was caught in Singapore? Singaporean in KL boy smuggling case loses appeal The Star/Asia News Network, Tuesday, Jul 31, 2012 PUTRAJAYA - A Singaporean cabby will serve a four-year jail term, after he lost in his appeal against the sentencing passed for smuggling an 11-year-old boy of Chinese nationality to Germany. Describing human trafficking as a grave offence, Court of Appeal president Raus Md Shariff dismissed Ng Gim Teck's final appeal to set aside a decision by the Shah Alam High Court which upped his jail term from six months to four years. Ng was sentenced to six months' jail and fined RM20,000 (S$8,000) by the Sepang Sessions Court, when he pleaded guilty to the charge of smuggling 11-year-old Zhang Xu at the immigration counter in the departure hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), at 7pm Malaysian time on Sept 29 last year. The jail sentence was increased to four years by the Shah Alam High Court on Nov 11 last year, upon revision by the prosecution over the inadequacy of the jail sentence. Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Ezlin Yusop Khan told the court that investigations showed Ng intended to smuggle the boy to Germany via KLIA. He was caught by immigration-department officials as he had the boy's fake Singapore passport in his possession. She said there was no record to show Ng's purpose of smuggling, but that it was usually done for sexual purposes. When asked why he had attempted to smuggle the boy, Ng replied that he was asked to do so by a friend. ↡ Advertisement

Picnic06-Biante15 Supersonic July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 (edited) For what I know, in MY, foreigners don't get bail easily and they are to stay in their prison till hearing dates. So if he appeal and was heard only recently and back date his arrest in Nov 2011, he almost served 8 months in prison leow..... If he don't appeal, he could be out in Feb 2012 (discount on good conduct)..... Edited July 31, 2012 by Picnic06

Topspin 2nd Gear July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 More pertinent in this incident is what would have happened to that poor 11 year old boy if the plan went ahead. Probably become a "play thing" for those sicko pedophiles. My heart goes out to all the smuggled children who were not so lucky to be stopped by the authorities in time. I have a child around that age so this story hit me real hard. That cabby should be jailed for life and kept in a cell room full of hardcore HIV positive rapist. ↡ Advertisement
