Am currently on APEXI, time to change so deciding to stick with it or change. Backside itchy.

In my view, small CC cars the best just use drop in K&N,don't used open pod,you will lose low end torque.
Elmo 4th Gear August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 No one thinking of K&N? Btw for HKS/Simota/etc, any recommended workshop? Is open pod recomended for TC cars? Depends on the tuning bro. I believe stock is best unless you want to tune up your ride with adjustments to AFR. That may require an open pod for increased air intake. Believe you are asking for your TC Veloster? May have to chk w Komoco whether they ok with this mod with rgds to your warranty.
Ladykillerz 4th Gear August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 open pod sure is useful if you installed it correctly. correct as in facing where is most air will be coming from and etc. however, when there are advantages, there will also be disadvantages. to make it short and simple, pro: suck in more air and thus, better fc or/and power con: everything also suck in and thus, dirty engine (make sure you do proper schedule servicing) for my case, i opt for Simota, tested and proven. Ya, you're right haha. Read somewhere that with much lower sales volumes nowadays, ADs are giving out generous warranties in order to "encourage" buyers to service with them so as to preserve their warranty hence providing additional revenue to the AD ("outside" servicing can be up to 50% cheaper). So i don't think they will void my warranty so easily cos they will never see me again after that. And even if so, only the warranty for the related part is affected. Anyway, i am just thinking lah, not serious yet. ONe of my previous rides after change to HKS open pod seemed to had some undesireable effect especially overheating. Yeah nowadays AD more generous with the warranties but if not in black and white better not try. Air intake will be linked to engine warranty so if lets say the open pod sponge/foam dislodged and get sucked into the engine dunno whether they will still honour the warranty to repair. Using open pod will most likely cause your intake temp to go up since it is taking air from the engine bay. Personally I will prefer a close-pod where you have the option to pipe-in from bumper or wheel-well. In the coming months sure have lots of mod shop cater to your Veloster. Will have more poison coming your way ↡ Advertisement
