Watwheels Supersonic August 24, 2012 Share August 24, 2012 (edited) To me a simple thank you is an important gesture but at the same time one has to pay ppl well and reward them when they get the job done. ...otherwise this kinda thing will happen....you know...political rivals get the chance to pay them instead... to talk c0ck. Pui, I say something, Honor, dignity, pride isn't going to feed the children, again pay the bills, put food on the table. We live in a very real world, if SG could do the same, donno how many of our guys would have made it big already, only choose to shut up and not say anything further. Icedbs Turbocharged September 6, 2012 Share September 6, 2012 (edited) I think you guys need to read the book first before jumping into conclusions. In the first few pages at the start, the author made it very clear that he took great pains to make sure that no classified information are in the book. He also made it clear that he will never write anything that would compromise the security or the interest of the USA. He even gone to the extend of hiring a Military lawyer to vet through the pages to make sure he didn't accidentally reveal anything. Finally he tells every reader that if the reader is looking for some "secrets" , then the book is not for him. Seriously, the whole thing is overblown. Go read it and make your conclusions before condemning the author. The motivation for the author is really to put such significant history right and hopefully inspire youngsters to put country above himself, rather than trying to make himself a hero by revealing secrets. Kiadaw 6th Gear September 6, 2012 Share September 6, 2012 All I know is I'm going to buy that book! Me also. I used to like to read real life army stories back in army days. I have read a book on the first Gulf war from SAS vet Andy Mcnab, a book on snipers (very nice), as well as the Falkland war from the eyes of a Royal Marine. Not to mention I buy a lot of VCD on aircraft, special forces of the world etc. Its a pity they post me to Artillery.... I believe War bring out the worst & best of men. Unlike our SAF, a lot of people join the army for a calling, & I personally cannot live a life when everyday could be my last, or see close friends get killed or seriously injury, & I cannot even imagine how its like to be family member of a operation soldiers, so I have huge respect for combat soldiers. I cannot tahan being in the jungle in Thailand for 2 weeks, & many of these people put months of years in a war zone.. Sure there are bad eggs, & people who flush off their sacrifice by saying they know what they sign up for, which is a reflection of our self centered societies.
