Camry suspension problem

My rough idea: Toyota does not manufacture shock absorbers. They use market brands such as KYB. So, if your Toyota originally comes with a KYB, then it is the OEM part.

OEM part is the most expensive. If you want a lower cost replacement, they will give brand B.

BTW shock absorbers/struts/coils are the same thing?

Yes,Toyota buys parts from suppliers, but those supplied parts will not have their own brand marked on it.

Yup, u are right.

Parts which are marked Toyota cost more.

Then comes the OEM.

But I suppose, there are high end parts in after-mkt which is higher in cost than genuine Toyota parts.

Yes,there are high performance shocks & coilover for sports cars, brands like HKS,Cusco & KW are a few good ones, but fitting these shocks to a Camry is an 'overkill',i think even the workshop selling you the shocks will laugh at you.

haha, if they laugh, it is because they make sweet bucks.

ok, so generally, a Toyota part is already good enough.

Most people make-do with the lower priced (OEM ) part.

can i ask what absorber you got and compared to the original shock absorber.

My Altis feel VERY soft and i took a few photos when changing tyre, it got Toyota marking and also KYBT (i assume KYB from Thailand). I previously replace to KYB (MIJ) in my dad's Altis and they feel more firm.
