During the quarterly IT fair, i kept seeing these products sold by the small time bargain retailers. I think they were going about 30 bucks or sold. They look something like this. Never used before so i have no idea about the reliability and performance.

Twincharged

i have one of these units ... but its only for SATA ... but can fit either 3.5" or 2.5", and the usual front multislot panel amd a USB 3.0 socket behind too !!

i think its difficult to fit both PATA and SATA into the same slot as both's pin structure is different.

If u want to spend 35 bucks on an IDE HDD enclosure. U mite as well spend the $35 on changing HDD. Sata has been out for like 7-8 years already? The IDE HDD is probably almost uplorry liao -_-

So if I use this I just take the HDD out of my old desktop and slot it in this, then use the supplied USB connection cable to connect to my new desktop and then I can transfer all my photos and videos at USB 3 speed???

At the moment I have a copy of some of my photos on a laptop  which files them in Picasa which is no longer being updated so I'm trying to use Google Photo but so far it has taken 3 hours to just upload just 500 photos and I have thousands.
