You should be spoilt for choice. Are you looking at a hatch or sedan?

If the former, you've the jazz/fit, yaris, march, swift, terios, etc. Personally from this bunch I like the march. V.comfy and well specced. If she prefers something even easier to park, there's the mitsubishi i, esp good for loading groceries in the boot as the floor height is quite high so she doesn't need to bend, great visibility, frugal but with poke.

Most people will tell you to get the Honda Jazz.

Agree.. I'm one of the most people too but then again.. 07-08 versions of Jazz/Fit? (GD or something).. not exactly the right fit.

With your budget, I would have gone for either Latio or Mazda 3 for comfort and space.

I scrolled First 10 Pages...

In general, most cars cost about S$6500 per year. Cars nothing special expect maybe Mit I (Cute/Not "That" Safe)...

Airwave known for space but do you really need that much space????

Model / Depreciations.

Yaris / 6968

March / 6672

C1 / 5917~6289

C4 / 5668

307 / 6775

MZ2 / 6836

MZ6 / 6941

Megane 1.6 / 6591

Megane 2.0 / 6289

Airwave/ 7102

IST / 6728

Materia / 7208

Mit I / 6651

If that I'm you, I would look for a 2004 car at 25/28K budget.

For example, Beetle asking for 28800 with depreciation of 9056.

Ask for $3K discount & depreciation would be S$7073.

Outlander 28800 @ 7839.

Ask for $2.8K discount = 6378.

You should source for older car as in general, people take loans.

They would rather pay of +1K for a newer car therefore dealers have a limited source of customers.

And they have limited source, knowing people will ask for

Lol, how you define small car? [confused] 1.0L car or hatchback or 1.4L small sedan?!

If you are looking for 07/08 under $40K, i would suggest jazz/picanto if you are looking for hatchback, or latio if you are looking for sedan.

Bro, are you looking at off peak car? Now quite tough to find below 40k and Japanese make. Unless you don't mind Korean, then probably there is chance of finding one. Else, it has to be OPC else below 40k can't get jazz or fit.

Two cars not mentioned:

Mitsubishi Colt (Version R if you see yourself driving it at times)

Daihatsu Sirion very well spec-ed - Singaporeans are badge snobs so it doesn't have a strong resale.
