I'm driving an sx4 since 2009. So far no major problems. Some rattling of the car when stationary but can be settled with a simple engine remount.

To summarise the benefits of the car.

Easy to maintain as its an average japanese car, no fancy gimmicks, standard VVT engine.

Its very easy to drive, the driver's view is elevated, so you have a good commanding view of the roads (except for the B pillar).

Interior is spacious, with a very high roof. Boot space is decent and if u need to ferry singular large items, the rear seats can be folded (2 combos) I ferried a mountain bike in it before( without removing the wheels)

The interior design and finishing is good.

1.6 litre 4 speed auto gear box. Not the most fuel efficient in the japanese category especially if you drive around city areas. But strong enough to potter around for A to B driving and sum simple overtaking.

The car comes default with the good quality leather seats( easy to clean), fog lights, factory fitted CD, radio (u can see from the brochure)

Best of all its MADE IN JAPAN.

If you observe the roads, you'll see a lot of female drivers in this car.

YOu can read more about it here

http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/suzuki/s...-vehicle/review

http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=5 (the sedan version)

Or google it up.

Branding wise its not the most popular choice by the general masses.

http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/listing...VEH=0&AVL=2 <-- here is just one i picked up for you to view the price.

Hope you enjoy reading my suggestion.

Regards

Nina

Throttle,

For auto transmission, suggest minimum 1500cc for reasonable pick up.

Daihatsu Sirion is an unrated car which is significantly cheaper than its closest rival, the Jazz or Fit.

The made-in-Japan Sirion is essentially a Toyota Yaris which also shares the same 1NZFE engine as the Vios.

Rear foor is almost and rear leg room is spacious, and it sips petrol.

Only set back is the body roll when cornering due to the high CG.

Hhmm but i see the depre is $7k per year, isnt that too much for a sirion?

She wont need the pram if she has a car.

The pram only helps to secure the younger one from running amok...

Any recommendations for Sedan base on the criterias discussed other than Latio.

we hate Latios...heeh

For 07/08 sedan cars, maybe you can consider 08 avante or even lancer. [:)]

(edited)

I think perhaps this weekend, bring my wife to go take a look at the following.

2008 Jazz 1.3L

2008 Mazda2 1.5R

Seems got no other better choice.

But wife in no hurry to buy at all.

Maybe can buy direct from one of the folks here

Twincharged

How about getz ah?

The getz also quite good. But the interior IMO is worse than the jazz or mazda. Soundproofing not as good also. Drove once and on the highway had to increase the music volume cuz the road noise is really loud at around 90km/h.
