ya dan when ur gearbox up lorry, u will end up spending more dan u save on ur fuel... y ppl like to shift here and there on auto? doesnt make sense to me since u chose to drive auto car dan drive it like auto... if not, go get urself a manual...

somemore downslope, y make urself so difficult? tapping on brake works very well when going downslope...

Exactly. Autobox was meant to b left in D n just drive as normal unless when tracking.

Shift too much here n there u just bugger up yr autobox n pay a few grand to get it fixed.

Modern cars actually consume 0 gas when you are not stepping on the gas pedal, down slope or otherwise. So there's no need to shift to Neutral. In fact in neutral gear, some amount of fuel is consumed to keep the engine alive, so you are not really saving much gas, at the cost of safety and more wear and tear.

However when you come to a full stop - say at traffic light, it's actually more economical to shift to neutral or P gear, compared to leaving the gear at D.

I have done quite a bit of experiment myself, and all these are verified by my car on board computer.

Was told that this also will wear out the gear as well due to keep shifting neutral/park to drive as a lots of traffic light in our road.

So it not good to do that. Is it true?
