Very soon, someone will create a new post "Why must have N for auto tranny since "no use""? [laugh]

N is fr when shifting fm D to R. It disengages e gear b4 it slots into R.

But i use N when i park e car. Never use P unless on a slope.

Maybe he heg pain. Sometimes I do that. Because drive auto car the left leg no work and right leg always work. Sometime I put N and handbrake, then just move my feet abit. Otherwise cramp/pain.

But nowadays I can use my left leg step brake if it feels cramped so I get to exercize it abit. Takes practice.

dun need to put to "N" gear, juz pull handbrake at red light will do.... [;)]

I know you are joking but I hope nobody go and try that.

It is EXTERMELY dangerous. You will lose your brakes when the engines are off.

To think about it, if someone so dumb to try, I will be glad [laugh] .

More people crash car, more COE release back to the public [laugh][:p] .

From 2004 i started left foot braking.

The reaction time is so much faster compared with right foot.

And when I switch to manual, I have to live with right foot brake but generally, I dont have any problems.

I need this function to save petrol. [laugh]

am i the only guy to accelerate on downslope (singapore downslope very gentle one...)?

If you really want to save petrol, accelerate down slope and cruise on up slope....

so mordern cars cut the fuel to zero when u lift off the fuel pedal.

but if u going down slope, at neutral, there will be no engine brakes and so cover a longer distance right? that will save right?

when you shift to N your engine will be at idle and burn fuel.

i seriously think you shouldn't even drive a car in the 1st place

Shifting to N from D when at red light wuldnt hurt your auto trans gearbox? [gossip]

I doubt very much. Having been shifting from N to D and D to N for nearly 5 years. Whenever I have distant to red lights or down slopes I would free the gear. The longest distant I was on N gear was between 7km to 9km down karak hwy at speed between 80 to 140 as the car went up and down the hwy and at times tapping the brakes to prevent it from closing up the front cars.

Sold my auto for a manual after nearly 5 years. The car was still in very good condition though it had done nearly 130k mileage with 10 mths seldom used when I was overseas.
