probably whacked and twisted the aluminum chassis from the side. aluminum bent = GG.

Aston Martin uses the same VH (vertical horizontal) structure as with the DB9, which provides strength and rigidity to the whole car. Thanks to the structure, 85% of the weight of the car is kept between the wheelbase, which results in increased handling, responsiveness and feel during tight cornering.

Completely understandable.

Luxury cars suffer a huge knock on the resale price if they sustain a major accident. Everything has to be declared at the point of sale (unlike in Sillypore, where lots of things can be kept quiet, and the law is silent about it).

Moreover, car prices are not ridiculously padded with taxes in those countries. Therefore, the repair costs to make the car "almost as good as new" may be as high as, or even higher than the cost of a brand new car minus the scrap value of the damaged car. It just doesn't make financial sense to repair the car when the cheaper option is to scrap the crashed car and just get a new one for the owner. Unless the car is a one-off or limited edition or whatever. Again, note the contrast with Sillypore - because of the ludicrous prices of cars here, it actually makes sense to repair cars that are so badly damaged they would be readily written-off elsewhere. Another factor is that there's no real enforcement of safety standards of repaired cars in Sg - so half-past-six repair jobs are common, with unsafe cars being put back onto the road.

The car pricing scheme in Singapore has far-reaching consequences, and they're compounded with the general apathy the gahmen shows when their own coffers remain unthreatened.
