Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,

my Toyota Altis' coolant is heated up. I have added water to the coolant but the temperature still does not decrease.

What else could be the problem?

Is there leakage? By right no need top up one. Once a while do flushing. If you need to top up water than there is possible leakage. Temperature fluctuates or rise at constant pace?

No leah, no leakage at all. Temp rose at constant pace till midlevel then stop at there.

Should add coolant rather than water.

Probably it's a cordial coolant (aka army camp cordial drink [laugh]) - one small bottle coolant add with water all the way. May w/s like to do it.

Why not just get Toyota Long Life premix coolant?

Anyway things to take note when encounter coolant over heat.

1. Never open up the radiator cap just after off engine.

2. Never pour water to the engine thought water will cool it down.

What you should do is wait for about 30mins for engine to cool down than pour water to top up and drive to workshop to diagnosed the problem. But that also depending, if water is empty upon driving short distance, than call tow truck and not to top up water and restart engine as there is more just leak if water level drop too fast. So not safe to continue drive.

If coolant temperature fluctuates, than there is air bubble in the system. All one need to do is to go do coolant flush can already.

Ok, but normally the coolant temperature would not rise up that much what. Normally it would stay at 2nd level and stop. The temp rise up within 5 mins leh.

In my opinion if the temperature going up so there should be a big problem like leakage or cooling fan stops working. First you examine your vehicle by yourself and check all possible problems if you find then fix it up if not then bring your vehicle to good reputed work shop to avoid any further issues.
