Remember this case.

Heard from a car dealer. That the owner gamble @ MBS for 2 days and 2 night. End up losing more than $1 million dollar.

Don't know whether true or not...

CLOSE to a dozen more motorists are alleged to have been taken for a ride by a now-defunct used-car dealership in Turf City.

The Straits Times has learnt that the number of people who have lost tens of thousands of dollars each when dealing with Galaxy Carz, which closed recently, may be more than triple the four cited in an April 6 report:

Gamblers will still flock to cruises, genting, Macau, Australia etc to fix their gambling habit and greed. all these losses are profited by other governments in form of taxes from the operators.

at least, 7~10k jobs created from the casinos here and portion of the losses stay here as taxes to our government. Personally, it's either into other people's pockets or our government's cos these gamblers just care about gambling.

I am not for gambling, here or overseas. I do not like casinos, here or overseas. I also do not like gamblers who do not care whether their habit will destroy own family, kids, future etc and always taking the short cut to end their lives. it is a choice, there is always a choice to gamble or not to gamble.... haiz....the saying is so true, "10 times gamble, 9 times lose.".... the odds so great.... still got people want to try.

safe ride and if possible, stay clear from casinos and loan sharks.

cheers

back to topic, the people who kena really unlucky.... especially those who happily handed over full loan settlement for galaxy to pass on to the banks.

once, there was log cards system that saw cheating as well. looks like best and safest is to settle own loan direct with finance/ bank and monitor the transfer of vehicle with LTA.

this incident just deepen the mistrust for car dealers and spoil the image.... not much left to destroy, I suppose. trust them and they do not treasure the trust or customers.... best to weed out these and let those who are genuinely there for the long haul and business to get more deals.

leaves a bitter taste in mouth when people's hard earned monies are scammed this way.

safe ride.... and safer deals with car dealers

Cheers

No offence here, but i think that is the govt's way to rationalize having 2 casinos here.

As you have said, gambling has destroyed many families... True, hardcore gamblers will go overseas to get their fix. But having one onshore will get another, what, 1000? more singaporeans addicted, which they would not have been should the casinos not be here in the first place.

It is a worthwhile sacrifice for better GDP? These 10,000 jobs - what types are these? mostly blue collar? The tax revenue and other spillover revenue is definitely significant. But do we need these revenue to survive? No other ways for the govt to generate new revenue using the 2 piece of land they have given to the casinos?

Back to topic - For used car dealers, it's best for you to full settle the loan yourself. Make sure they transfer the ownership immediately. I had to chase my dealer for weeks to full settle my loan and transfer ownership.. fortunately he did and no funny tricks from him. But i wished i had done it on my own instead of leaving myself at the mercy of these sharks.

private limited. the keyword is limited.

just like the company fold but the owner is still a millionaire or billionaire.

even the guru robert kiyosaki got company bankcrupt and fold and yet he is still filty rich.

unless there is criminal breach.

for galaxy carz ... what is the law about cheating customer money huh ... did not transfer ownership and did not settle outstanding loan

may be one of the staff kena scapegoat?

no offence taken, you are sharing your personal views.

perhaps the government took a rationalizing stand but I feel that its better for losses to be kept to a minimum by channeling them back here than out of the country. the fact is, I am anti-casinos but I reckon that everyone has a choice whether to step into one or two or three..... it's still a choice regardless of the temptation of "nearness" per se.

back to topic, on hindsight, it is prudent to settle personally outstanding car bank loan or as bro hamburger highlighted, issue a cheque NOT in dealer's name or company but LTA/Bank xxxxxx instead.

unless it's classified as criminal offence, the police will advise personal lawsuit. I read that they are investigating and hopefully, soon, this bad apple will be brought to justice.

safe ride

Cheers
