Switching Gear to Drive Too Quickly After Starting Engine?

Hi guys,

I am quite the impatient sort, and I have set up a routine to press the Start Engine button and immediately switch the gear to Drive (from Park), then pull seat belt and drive off, all within a few seconds.

The problem is... Recently, i was doing this routine more and more quickly, until 1 time when I switched the Gear to Drive (from Park), the car/gearbox keeps vibrating, then I quickly switched back to Park and off the Engine, then I restart Engine and after a while then switch to Drive. Did I do any damage to my car's engine or gearbox?

Could be the AT valves in the valve assembly got stuck thus making the brake bands work against the epicyclic gears in a way that it's not supposed to and in turn caused vibrations?

What car you driving btw? If dsg then stop doing liao. If normal car, I think the valve would be stuck because the AT fluid haven't circulate the valve assembly properly. Esp when cold.

If CVT I dunno. But anyway you should be more cautious with your gearbox. My gear shifter linkage popped off once.. And it was raining... [bigcry]

what's engine mounting?

Yr "problem " is actually very easy to solve.

Just b a bit more patient lah. I wil open door n start engine. Then put bag in back seat. Then sit in car n wear seatbelt. Put gear in D then on fan then slowly move off.

After abt 4-5 mins of driving slowly..... i wil on ac.

Like that car so far no problem n my car >7 yrs old.

Btw i change my atf every 20-30k km to keep it fresh.

Yr wowo autobox spoil wil b damm ex to repair. Take good care of it.

Oh n never change fm D to R or P when car is still moving. Wait till car completely stop n wait 1 second b4 change. This preserves yr autobox.

it starts by slowing down the way a driver off engine n leave the car

I will reverse into lot until the tyre touches the kerb then move a few inches in front

then put into P

then pull handbrake

fold the side mirror

off aircon

off radio

then step out

morning

open car door start engine

open back seat door

put bag or whateva

close back

sit in car

on radio

wind down window

unfold mirror put gear into D

drive to nearby hawker wo aircon

Its hard to say if there was already some damage in yr autobox in e 1st place to cause e shuddering?

I guess if u never changed yr atf b4......u sud consider doing it every 10k km till it comes out nice n red cherry colour. Then u can do it every 20-30k km on a regular basis to keep yr autobox happy.

I always say: Its e driver not e car bro. Its e driver. [pirate]

Can la.. if race in crowded geylang... wont lose la lol

But its true i m not a slow driver.. neither do i crave for speed

I just prefer to get away from slow coaches or hoggers...

I notice some buggers love to crowd together in packs...

Anyway like i say its a mirror of how one leave the car the night before...
