New car with GPS build-in

Just received my new Honda with GPS (Garmin) build in. When I check with AD on map / firmware update, it is not FOC but with hundred dollars charges. Can anyone share if this is the same from other AD? Thanks.

Usually for Garmin GPS, can just copy free map in from MSM or MFM. Check from these free map forum for more instructions.

not surprised when C&C Merc S class need a few K

but was surprised when Borneo motors told me their Japanese cars is more than 1K too....and worst 2014 manufacture car map is still relatively "outdated".

 

However, new car (usually PI) with usual 2din headunit with added GPS like navigator/papago - can be "free" or minimal sum eg $60 by updating/copying the the sd card/usb.

portable GPS may be more user friendly and useful

but the "charger wiring" can be out of place or messy, especially for "high end cars"
