Old Volvo S80/S60

S80 don't have T5, more like a 2.5T (new shape) or 2.0T(Old shape), and T5 is a 2.4 for S60/V70. S40/V50 got 2.5 T5.

I think they more or less have the same reliable box, except the old S80T6 (had that before) with a sure-to-fail GM 4-speed auto.

so the T5 used in C70 was never implanted in a S80??

no wonder I was wondering why the power output of S80 is low compared to C70. Thought it was detuned or something.

HI all,

I am driving a S80 2.5T. So far, so good. Aircon is not as powerful as my old Cefiro. Space is good. Consumption is acceptable. Clocked around 8-9km/L on average(18" rims).

I did my servicing at my regular workshop instead of WS or other so call Volvo expert.

Overall, it feels safe. Soundproof is not perfect.

My multi-CD decks is spoiled. Not repairing it as I did some research and think it will cost THOUSANDS!!! I live with radio and a FM frequency transmitter. So I can listen to music in my car playing via my mobile phone. The wires are a little "everywhere". But I can live with it.

I am staying at east.

U are at WS mercy when u Dont know the parts number.

They will mark.up the parts with another 30 to 50%.

Follow by labour again.

Unico not the cheapest.

Can use it as a guideline.

Can look for Danny from the old Volvo forum to get the parts

Which old volvo forum Mcf777?

Been looking around these forums and they're virtually dead.

Besides Unico, anyone knows which other parts distributors are there?

New 2litre 4 cylinders engine? That is ford related I think similar to eco boost.

Old 5 pots are quite bullet proof.

Hi guys, what Tyres are you using for your S80? Thinking of changing one which is more comfort biased such as primacy Hp or gr100. What do u think ?

Thinking of buying a 2008 - 2009 S80.  Any bros can advice on the reliability, is it very expensive for servicing and repair compared to a Japanese make? Thanks in advance...

Ard 200bucks per normal servicing. 6ltrs of engine oil top up.

Need to take note timing belt. Avg last 100000km to 120000km.

Ride would be fantastic though. The 2.5t is a hungry car.

And s80 has the most comfy seats in its class

I find the 2.5T is not as smooth as the older 2.0T (5 cylinders) nor more powerful.

I think the newer 2.0 T5 (4 cylinders) might be better.

Better test out the different engines first.

Hehe. Endurance.

I had a volvo s80 b4. 2007 one. Just gave it up lately for a 7 seater...

Like i said ride n build quality is good.

Parts to be honest more ex one for surr compare to japs.

But then s80 selling cheaper than older bmw 5 series.

Got high omv at least 42k i think.

Its a fuel guzzler. Fc ard 7 to 8km/ltr.

Nosir insultation is good even for this old ride

have u tried driving the 2010 2.5T before?

Wondering if quality is any better than your 2007. Seems to have more power and torque on paper.
