Aurius Vs I30 Vs Golf...

Golf is the best in every aspect but I'll avoid it for the DSG alone.

Auris is actually very good. The drive and handling is much better than vios/altis etc. However no match for Golf.

i30 is for space.

Do check out OMV as well. If i'm not wrong, Auris has the highest OMV.

Should indent manual Golf... Possible?

The letdown of Golf is DSG, the letdown of Auris is CVT. If use gun to point at me, I choose Auris (CVT over DSG).

Always heard people also try to avoid CVT, wonder what's the reason?

Too tiny for me. Auris look good, feel hood, drive good.

For small buggers.

Have to go with Golf stick.

Kimchi gives me gas, not socially appropriate...

A check with sg carmart found out that Aurius is made in UK, and the kerb weight for the car is 1355kg!!! Incredible for a jap car.

Because it is made in conti, so it must weight like a conti mah [drivingcar]

My Mech told me that CVT is not as durable as AT, just like AT is not as durable as MT.

Some reasons that gave it a bad rep will be using ATF instead of CVTF, causing premature breakdown.

Less tolerance for added stress. My mech told me for 1 of his cust, he change his rim from the stock 14 inch to 17inch. (Fit 1.3)

Had to overhaul at the 60k mark.

Some pefer the revvy feel of gears......feel the engine characteristics, rather than the flat feel of CVT. But accd to wiki, it said that most CVTs would out accelerate an AT based on the same car/capacity. just that due to the linear power delivery it "feels" slower. An excolleague who drove a Vios 1.5 4AT & then a Fit 1.3 CVT, said that the Vios felt revier/racier but the Fit felt more torquey.

CVT always adjust the vitual ratios such that u get the best mix of perf & economy. But the trade off is more fragile. Needs for Tender Loving Care (TLC).

Perhaps no problem by the 7DSG standards ?

I recalled reading that DSG in general not as suitable for stop go traffic. This is because, for AT, if u break while in D mode, no issue, even long term basis. But on DSG or automated manual systems, it will cause accerlerated wear of the clutch plate. And u keep changing D & N & D & N......be it DSG or AT, it will wear more quickly.

The PI also have aurius from japan, 1.5 weighing in at 1270kg. Wonder why it is so much heavier? More conti feel? maybe?

me friend bought golf and hearsay the DSG is different already. Agent say no more problem. no sure true or not.

If I'm the agent, i also 拍胸脯guarantee no problem.

The auris comes with '7 speed' cvt and also paddle shifters, plus dual zone aircon etc. The handling is surprisingly good and the acceleration feels faster than its quoted time. i30 is very spacious and well built, almost like a continental car. However, the golf is probably still the best all round package among the 3, although the DSG is a potential stumbling block.

To illustrate

Toyota Yaris 1.5 weighs 1075kg

Toyota Wish 1.8 weighs 1370kg

The Aurius is only 15kg lighter, but it is much smaller than a Wish.
