So changing ATF at regular intervals solves the issue?

seems like VW is advocating the change of Mineral oil for ATF. maybe can consider regular ATF changes like non sealed GB cars.

Actually those specialist workshop technicians who serviced my merc and bimmers last time told me that for ATF, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The ATF is scheduled to run a couple of hundred thousand KMs before the transmission needs an overhaul. If itchy backside go and open transmission at only 60,000 km and change ATF when nothing is wrong, it could really become something wrong. Something to do with the rubber seals and gaskets.

my old tom yam Toyota, changes ATF every 40k, so does my sushi Civic as well..

Could be 100k change interval for those higher end like Liquid Moly fully syn type? Had a colleague who uses that and changes like every 100+ k.

Overhauled the 4AT around the 200+ mark. Its a Tucson.

Think different cars got different gearbox mah.

For BMW, the manufacturer never stated must change ATF. Usually the gearbox for BMW is "lifetime", which is impossible but well there you go.

Basically true.

ATF is meant to last at least 100,000km

When replaving ATF best to change gaskets and seals too.

u serious? our B&B car ATF requires changing at 40k to 60k depending on manufacturer specs. lidat also must chg seal? the labor cost very dang poon..

so far manaufacturer dont spec out, we'll just replace ATF. but i noted if chg at such mileage, the ATF still reddish.

I feel that the engineers at vw did not do enough test on the 7sp dsg gb before replacing the 6sp for most models. One of the reasons why not all of their models are using the gti 6sp is cost. The cut-cost gb gives so much problems that they should be ashamed of themselves by putting their customers' life at risk.

nowadays QC not like last time. now must faster roll out new product / tech to gain most profit before others mimic.

have problem then see how later; may or may not b so jialat. but vdub probably "miscalculated" the risks.

anyway, i feel they only blaming other sub-components of the system-in-question, hoping to cause the gen public / laymen more forgivable about it.

oic, then I will insist of changing ATF at intervals.....

heard the gearbox is due to GB overheating.. If yr VW already out of warranty and is on the famous DQ200 7 speed, can consider adding additional aftermarket ATF cooler.

Actually for cantries with HH climate & SS traffic, will it be feasible for them to offer it with 6AT instead ? What ever fuel savings dct has, 1 repair = refund + late charge + interest liao.

They need to comply with stringent Euro emission standards, that's where TSI engine and DSG were borned.

They could keep it original for exports to cantries which dont suffer those conditions but for those that do?

Oh, btw when u mention cvt aint good for ss traffic, did u mean the premature wear to the starter clutch? Heard it cost 1k + to replace.

I think that is the thing that most people want to avoid.. if couple of hundreds of Km = overhaul cost of 2K and down time of a few days,

I believe most forumers would rather change the ATF on regular basis together with servicing package provided it does not come to the situation of overhauling the GB. I know I would

For BMW and Merc, change ATF one time is $600+ including labour. This is the price for outside specialist workshop. If AD, it is even more. So how many times you wanna change? Most BMW and Merc owners sell their cars when 3 years is up.

I won't touch any car with DSG, despite the salesperson claims that the new generation of Golf has an updated DSG. Too many cases for it to be a coincidence. Too bad VW refuses to bring in manual cars. Tested a Golf couple months back. Very nice car indeed.

Haha very true. And they like to keep quiet on negative points too. Just like how BMW can't display chinese characters. Salesperson keep quiet till I asked him specifically.

BM / MERC change ATF = 600. VW quoted me less than 200...

probably HAT or EUROHAUS will probably charge around there.

How much does a JAP car change ATF cost? last time my civic change cost me 2 bottles of HMCF = 60plus labour = 100 or there abouts.

Bro do you mean HAT and Eurohaus quoted only $200 to change your ATF? Which VW is it? What transmission? Is it flush or drain? Do they replace gaskets also?

no. I did not enquire with HAT or EUROHAUS. I did check with VW and since AD is the most expensive to perform work on cars. it is a good gauge.

transmission - 7sp dry DSG

did not check whether it is flush or drain and whether check if they change gaskets as it is just a short question while waiting for my car to be taken from the parking lot.
