My initial fear when I saw the news this morning was that N. Korea may have test fired their missiles and this plane when into its trajectory without knowing.

this type of incident happened few days ago with China Southern Airline. luckily nothing happen.

It is not, but you said "Landing on water is confirm worse than landing on land lah" mah...

Frankly, I don't know which is better (or worse in your context)..

Just thought that if the pilot still has some control over the plane, an emergency landing over water might be easier to negotiate. Just my thoughts. I am no expert. Perhaps a pilot is able to share some knowledge.

There has been emergency landings done on water. The Miracle on the Hudson River comes to mind.

But in that case, the pilot realized there was an issue and managed an almost perfect landing on water. There was some control.

If it's sudden like the Air France crash in the Atlantic then no chance lor.

Edit: if you guys can find the black box voice recording of the Air France crash, listen to it. It's gripping stuff. Unbelievable tension when you listen to it.

Passenger's name passport and birth date are revealed?

for me, this is acceptable as there are too many people with the same name, esp the Chinese.

Sad to say most crashes in sea or ocean have zero survivors. [:(]

Unless we are say ditching/force landing into sea/land in controlled manner, then survivor rate will be higher.

The hudson river ditching of US Airways is the one of a kind with no injuries or fatalities.

Our Silk Air MI185 has no survivor.

The Ntl Geographic, Air Crash Investigation with the Aeroperu also crashed in the sea with no survivor

Difficult to even find remains.

When sudden disappearance from Radar with no emergency RT, seems like crashed than emergency ditching.

Hope the best for rescue and retrieval works.

Hope the cause is not sabotage. [sweatdrop]

RIP. Sincere condolences to the bereaved families.

One of the scariest and quickest way to die. In seconds or minutes, life is snuffed out.

Sad and sobering news.
