Got a 2009 Hyundai Avante. 3rd brake light isn't working (other two are ok). Changed the bulb but it still won't light up. What could be the problem? Checking the fuses later although I think there isn't a separate one for the 3rd brake light. TIA.

When it comes to braking lights, it's simple. Either faulty bulbs or fuse box. For brakelights, there are 2 modes, idle mode (when you switch on headlights), and main mode(when you step on brakes).

Could be the contact switch.

Stepping on the brake closes the circuit to light up the bulb ; same operation as opening the door.

Happened to a colleague's

Thought that affects all three brake lights, not just the 3rd one. Anyway check the fuses and none of them are blown.
