If u have not bought the E ,try to buy from republic ,part of c&c dey gives better warranty and the W212 got some cam chain issue,I pays thousand plus to get it replaced.

I do agree that the warranty from Republic will give one greater peace of mind.

But I have this story to share. 2 of my friends, one bought a 3-4 year old W211 from Republic and then went on to spend another $30k repairing his car. Another bought a 6 year old W211 from a second hand car dealer and then spent less than 1k to replace some faulty parts till COE finished. This was some years back and I do not have the details why he need to spend $30k since he has better warranty.

Hi

Its been quite some time.

Let me chimes in.

As one comment mention, merk parts are decent.

Notice it when I move from an preown camry to a used C class&than dis E.

Nowadays I hardly buy new ,perhaps no money, maybe dun fancy getting a big hit in the depreciation but loves to navigate around all the preown!

The trick is to set aside say 3,4K on TOP of yr price to sort it out.lately,I have a fetish of visiting w/shop & I would bring my juzz collected used vehicle to to like 3 or 4 wshop on Saturdays to give it a once over & replacing ,flushing & draining of all the fluids plus throw away all usual stuff like spark plug ,wiper etc.

After those few visit ,u will find yr car is almost like new(it's a 200k car, new) even u might not wan's to replacing those wear & tear parts like mount, pads & rotors.

Here's the price

1) 1 Set Front Brake Pad $155(Original)

2) 1 Set Rear Brake Pad $130(Original)

3) 2pcs Brake Pad Sensor $15×2=$30

4) Front LH & RH Brake Disc $200×2=$400 (Original)

5) Rear LH & RH Brake Disc $130×2=$260 (Original)

6) Labour Charge $120

Total $1095

Another thing u should consider is tha AET ceramic pad ,mercs pad are infamous for the dust.

Of coarse u can buy yr own spares but accord where I used to go needs to pays a bit more labour if u BYOS.

Now dey have some promo going on.

3 svcs package

For conti,u pay 120(I think),all original stuff,2nd one,pay full price,third visit FREE.

I also go chip soon in Tampines, lots of ex c&c staff.

Its a wonderful car, think I will renew my COE.

Hi ,

I agree with you. I bought a Year 2010 Dec E250.

First thing I do is to change all the 4 tires , and replace all the 4 brake and brake disc (even the mechanic told me that the front disc is alright) and air con filter. It cost me $1k plus and all parts are original.

So far the car are in great condition and I drove to JB for shopping and food plus fuel. :))

I think I will not buy new car in the future, the dep is too high.

Same experience here , I moved from W211 E200 to a W204 C180 and back to W212 E200 over the last 3 years.  It is a journey of no look back and I will stick to E. Not that C Class is no good but E Class is really more than one up than C in comfort and build .  For those who are considering between C and E, my take is you should go straight into E .

I don’t buy new car too as I do not see the need, perhaps also no budget.  I have  mentioned before, buying a used  E is relatively safer  because this model is mostly driven by established businessmen, matured executives, they have no issue spending money maintaining car and they won’t abuse their car.  I wouldn’t  say all but most of the E class are quite well maintained and taken care of.

Going to Republic Auto will be the safest bet because they take in only the good trade in cars, therefore, you will likely not use the warranty because of the pristine condition of their car. They will sub out the not so good trade in cars to the dealers out there.

By the way you mentioned Accord, is it the one at Alexandra village?

Wow glad to know you got a E250. Hope you have got a good brand change experience.  I was looking for a E250 too but then I have no more time to wait, so I resort to a E200 instead, same CC but less power.  This car will be a  more spacious than your previous ride if i recall your previous ride correctly.

30k repair is  a lot of money, i dont know where he did his repair and what the workshop did for him. Even if it is C&C is still consider very  expensive.

It was not a single repair. He added up all the different repairs and replacements that he carried out. Some were at C&C.

Both conti car (BMW and Merc) have their pro and con, it depend on what you want. I like Merc because it quieter and the drive is more comfort. BMW is zoom zoom ...

Accord auto service Pte Ltd got 2 ,I think,me go to bm one.

Blk 1009 Bukit Merah Lane 3 #01-80, Singapore 159723

6271 5133

Book for an appointment, see ah soon supervisor, boss Gilbert

afraid dis 3 svcs pkg is suppose to b only 1 off.

Perfect opportunity to check them out!

For republic case, the range of mercs is NOT great so I have no choice to buy outside but for the uninitiative republic price is slightly more but as I says piece of mind .

Even dat,my usual practise is to put aside 3-4km to do it up.

Immediately pick up vehicle(dun believe what's the sales man says)drain, flush, replace all fluid, most important transmission fluid, dats a big ticket item!

Enjoy yr merks ,guy's.

Anybody know the cost to change 4x brake pad from C&C for W212, or is there a cheaper option? I am checking the cost if I buy a used W212. Thanks.

U buys a merk & u trouble by the price of the brake pad!

OMG

The biggest numbers dat will do u in is the...............gearbox!

When u pick up a preown vehicle ,first thing to the w/shop to flush said item.

Not many wshop got the flushing machine only specialise transmission shop.

Dey pump in ,pump out something like 10litres to flush out years of debris.

Make sure dey 're using mb recommended atf,dis one cannot play play one.

Normally after 1 flush ,the rest only replace atf & filter only.

Actually flushing is nvr mention by mercs but those GB specialist noes their stuff & anwae early mb dun even recommend replace atf fluid, its used for LIFE !

Hi all

Just bought a used w212 recently.

Was unable to open front passenger door from outside today.

Anyone can help?

Thanks

Hi,

what do you mean by unable to open? you mean you could not open the door after pulling the handle or when you touch the handle, it does not get unlocked ?

Mthks I got the lock mechanism changed by the dealer.

Now getting him to fix sensor on rear door.not responding to key

Is it normal that the e250 engine is noisier than jap cars?

My system show next service is 6 months time. Is that reliable?

Mthks

looks like your problem is different from mine  . I had a door handle not responding to touch on my previous W211. Went to Thye Soon to buy the handle(it has a small electronics in there), get a spray paint shop to spray the small color strip on the handle, and i replaced it myself(one screw at the door side) , all in all less than $200 or slightly more i think.  I have no handle issue with my W212 so far.  Hope your rear door could be fixed soon.

W212 E250, one of the best cars I've driven and I have driven 3 other Es before this.

W212, don't even remember having any problems less wear and tear from wiper blades, lamps and one battery change..Sold mine 3 years ago after drivning for 5 years due to badge change.

Would say to anyone considering the E250 "a good buy"......well maintained if a used one.

IMHO and sharing,... mine was quiet all the while until sold.

....that said there are always exceptions that problems may come about given its all mechanical, electronics or electrica with wear and tear and lifespan to consider.

then there are also the other considering components like car age, number of owners, mileages, perferred / trusted workshops, driving patterns and what have you not.....its not like its impossible to "spoil" a good car.

and while it can be negotiated on what is quiet, noisy or noisier,it still does differ from one to another.

my practiced rule of the thumb is that if it does not feel right or if it bothers me, the car is going to the workshop for a good check and if need be, serviced and / or parts replaced......... of course warning alerts on the panel especailly the safety concerned ones must take action fast la.

no right or wrong if being more certain makes one feel better, you may want to consider sending your car for a good check at a good workshop that you may continue to fully enjoy your ride......I would, noise from the engine is also something I would struggle with if not taken care of quickly.

The E250 engine is noisier than Lexus, Camry, Accord when listened from outside. The cooling fan is especially noisy. However, once inside car with door closed, the engine is barely audible at idling and low revs.

This is especially so when a car is started with a hot engine, the fan will spin at much higher RPM which resulting in louder noise outside the car. The engine itself is not noisier than other car though . But when in the cabin, the sound insulation is so good that road noise and engine noise are probably the lowest among most of the cars.

By the way, does anyone have experience in removing the platic tubing of the lumbar pump before? My passenger side pump is screwed , there is power input but the pump is not working i intend to replace it but the tubing connections are all very tight. I dont want to screw it up.

Thanks.
