Davidklt 6th Gear June 22, 2014 Share June 22, 2014 (edited) Saw this one at Incheon Airport.Quite imposing. I think this exercise is more to up the brand quotient of the Hyundai brand in Singapore more than hoping to sell this model in big quantity. If Komoco really prices it at base 5-series levels, Genesis drivers could well be happily boasting to his 520i/E200/A6 pals about his 315bhp 3.8V6, top-level equipment and limousine refinement..haha! I think Hyundai is just showcasing the Genesis to Europe and this part of the world, to show consumers what they are capable of, to debunk some myths, since they have already achieved some success in the US. I don't think they were hoping for big sales. Edited June 22, 2014 by Davidtkl ↡ Advertisement
Heartbreakid 6th Gear June 22, 2014 Share June 22, 2014 Felt that this model has lost its originality. The long nose and headlights resemble those on a BMW 7 series. Side view is like Teana, while to grille is Audi. It seems like the gulping gap is an in thing these days, the bigger the better. Audi has it, Mazda has it and now Hyundai adopting it on Genesis too. That gulping grille never appeals to me at all.
Limxiaoming 2nd Gear June 22, 2014 Share June 22, 2014 A friend just told me price came out already - $229,999 for the full spec genesis but not sure if its the 3.3L, 3.8L or 5.0L.

Tayspiderx 3rd Gear June 22, 2014 Share June 22, 2014 228K can get E250 from PI...a no brainer ...or ES250 for luxury with space...was initially expecting it to be sub 200k to be competitive
GLZT 6th Gear June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 But for value of money, is this car better that MB, Lexus or BMW? Frankly speaking, having driven various types of different car brands, I think most of them of the same categories do not differ much from one another. Unless maybe you are going to a race track to feel the difference.
Vitaminc1231 2nd Gear June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 I don't think Hyundai intend to sell this like hot cakes here. Like a brother mentioned earlier, this is merely for Brand building, create awareness that Hyundai is not Proton or Cherry equivalent anymore.

Spurman Supercharged June 23, 2014 Author Share June 23, 2014 Me too. 300plus horses. Like a 7 series... way too much to digest. My dream specs would be a 2.0turbo charged with same finishing in quality. But 3.0 will be tempting.
Limxiaoming 2nd Gear June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 Call me bias or what but i'll take the genesis over the 5series or e-class. Of course need to see the car in flesh first before giving my final verdict. Many times picture and actual thing can be very different. Just look at the wrx muhaha... Wait for the novelty to wear off and the car shd be able to buy below $200k

Alheych 6th Gear June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 actually, the only people i can think of who will buy this in Singapore are the following: 1) Korean ambassador to Singapore 2) CEO/MD of Korean companies in Singapore 3) K-pop fanatic who saw it in some drama the number of Daewoo/Ssangyong Chairman in Singapore can probably be counted with one hand. i don't expect Genesis to do much better.
Bleuzone 1st Gear June 28, 2014 Share June 28, 2014 Got the mailer from Komoco. Specs and features look pretty good, it's the 3.8 V6 GDI variant. 8-speed gearbox, suction doors, adaptive cruise control, etc.
