Supercharged

Yo,

Today I got a problem with the ride

Ride is honda. 7 yrs old. CVTF gear. 100km mileage. Last servicing was in Dec 2013. New Iridium sparks changed. Usual EO used. New air filter changed.

First, I feel that car doesn't accelerate as much as normal. Hit 80km/h or so, the car doesn't feel the power to go higher speed. Something holding back the car.

Then when I had to stop the car and wait for someone, I put gear to N and pull hand brake. After 1 min, the engine died! It just died..... I can restart the engine without problem.

The idling is not stable, and I feel the engine is weak.

I suspect its ignition coil? I thought it might be the fuel filter, but I change it 30k km before. And I don't pump MY petrol.

Any advice?

The symptoms for coils are jerkiness, rough idling, like coughing. Your car's symptoms points more like what you suspects - fuel filter, or maybe Air Mass Sensor.

Yes, it could be one of the 4 coils that is faulty. Hence in one of the cylinders the spark plug is not firing properly or not firing at all. That might be of the reasons for the loss of power and engine dieding LoL...stalling.

Other possibility is the throttle body that requires cleaning. Or a faulty O2 sensor. If you have a OBD scanner you could see if the sensors are working or detect any fault.

TS, get it checked ASAP. It happened to one of my cars.

Engine died a few times when idling at traffic lights but able to restart.

Delayed sending to workshop and almost crashed while driving when engine died suddenly when making a turn - steering locked and brakes failed !!

I sent mine to AD. Simple job - had some kind of electronic sensor replaced.

Was upset with AD because car was serviced there just 2 weeks prior to incident, but they claimed that this can't be detected. Was a bloody scary experience......luckily didn't crash into other cars or pedestrian!

Unable to recommend workshop. Good Luck with the diagnostic and repair!

first....

steering wheel will not lock, it just got heavier.

second,

brake dont fail, its just need more foot power as its not vacuum assisted anymore.

unless you took out the key, then its a different thing.

Guess you are narrating your own experience right?

since you weren't the one at the control of my car!

All I could recall was the car heading for centre divider on my right, after just one turn of the steering (intended to turn left to exit main road). Engine sudden cut off, Steering was definitely locked in one turn position.

Couldn't recall whether brake pedals were locked or just stepping on air. All I knew was that they weren't

responding and the car was still moving towards the divider!

Luckily had tapped on brake earlier to slow down b4 the turn and also for the quick recall that I had to step on ebrake!

FYI, that car has keyless start.
