So can we bargain at MI? currently the CVT is on offer at 145,800. Can try to offer even lower?

Bump. I will like to know too. Hope someone can offer advice on this.

@ 145,800 still overprice for a 23k OMV car.

Went to test drive today. Fell in love with it but the list price has shot up to 157,800 for CVT version now. :(

So tempted... If only COE is 50K now.

157,800 is for manual rite?

http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_promotionslist.php

CVT currently is 149,800 after promotion offer.

the lowest it got to recently was 145,800 (last weekend, before the recent increase of coe by 3k+). given that sales is so poor for wrx, maybe u can negotiate to 146k? [:)]

u saw from my link to the sgcarmart advert rite?

157.8k is the list/non promo price of wrx cvt. promo price is 149.8k. unless the sales guy seriously think u dunno there's any discount and really try to make u carrot head.

u can see from sgcarmart that even list price is $157,600 for auto and $165,600 for manual.

the sales guy not only gave u the undiscounted list price but added another $200 more. lol. either that or he is so blur that he gave u the discounted price of the manual.

My bad. I should have clarified. I was referring to the list price. After all the stuff he is throwing in, the final price is $149,800.

I took a look this link:

http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/buy_a_new_vehicle/car_cost.MainPar.67872.File.tmp/Car_Cost_Update.xls.

Nothing comes close to this power even at the current list price. However, I am quite puzzled by Camry 2.0A. Its CO2 output is almost like the WRX [sweatdrop]

198g/km vs 199g/km for WRX. Even the 2.5A is more efficient than the 2.0A.

Also seems that MotorImage has a fatter margin even if you consider all the discounts. Margin more than OMV.

can't be helped. 1) there is some discussion on the OMV thread on possible ways for ADs to announce lower OMVs. 2) subaru forester XT has been very popular and MI is earning higher margins from that than wrx.

camry 2.0 lol, could it be because the heavy body of camry is easier to pull by a 2.5? the 2.0 struggles, produces more co2 emissions, has poorer fuel consumption and is slower from 0 to 100 by a mile (slower than many many 1.6l cars).

subaru's prices, however, do not fluctuate wildly and more or less tracks the coe increases and decreases. have seen the prices of some other makes volatile like stock market.

if we take current coe of 71,889, cost of wrx is $125,536. at $149,800, gross profit is $24,264. last weekend, at coe of 68,668 and price at $145,800, gross profit was $23,485. however, they would have bought the 71,889 coe to meet the 145,800 order which reduces their profit margin to $20,264.

if u r really keen, maybe can offer them last week's price, they might bite since wrx has been moving very slowly, prob cannibalized by the forester xt.

Although this is kinda a odd-ball comparison but this is what I think....

The Toyota Camry 2.0L engine has been around for quite some time compares to the newly developed WRX engine 2.0L twin scroll TC engine that replaces the old 2.5L block. It's designed back dan to meet the old CO2 emmision standards while the new WRX engine is designed for today's & future emmision standards.

Is this 2.5L Toyota engine found in the Camry hybrid? FYI it runs on Atkinson cycle hence it's more efficient and emits less CO2. If it's running on Otto cycle like the 2.0L engine it might not meet the CO2 emmision standard.

The new WRX runs a brand new designed twin scroll turbocharged direct injection 2L engine. No longer using the 2.5L single scroll port injection EJ255.

Look like Subaru no longer offers bang for buck performance.

With the new Legacy being launched here on April 1st, with a 2.5L non-turbo engine...... I think your point here is, sadly, too accurate.

Did a lot of research on nasioc and clubwrx. Think I'll hold back on my purchase for now.

CEL, cam sensor issues, knocks, etc happening all over the place (US, Taiwan)

Random guy in US with knock on stock tune:

This one is not WRX but Forester but still scary:

Asked salesman. He said no TSB released for SG market. Think I will wait until COE drops, and hopefully by then all these issues get ironed out and then I can bring out the cheque book.

I feel u did the right choice not to buy now. COE price would likely fall.
