40 dead in Iranian plane crash

A civilian airliner crashed on take-off near Tehran's Mehrabad airport on Sunday (Aug 10), Iranian news agencies said, with state television reporting that more than 40 people were killed.

The Taban Airlines plane was headed to the eastern city of Tabas, the IRNA and Fars news agencies said, and crashed at 9.18 am (1248 pm Singapore time).
