Atonchia Supersonic September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oegMtagGVw Have I been driving with the wrong rule or was the taxi driver right? This was not the 1st time I have seen motorist turning left at a T-junction waiting for traffic light to turn green. Maybe they see pedestrians others cannot see? ↡ Advertisement

Tianmo Hypersonic September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 turn left on red is unless there is a sign that states "turn left on red"...........otherwise of course stop at red light mah.........only some T-junction can turn left on red leh......... http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/on_the_roads/traffic_management/left_turn_on_red_.html

Atonchia Supersonic September 21, 2014 Author Share September 21, 2014 Taxi turn on green, correct. Taxi stop for pedestrian, correct. Taxi didn't move off, sotong. Spot on. I guess he forgotten it was a T-junction. If it was normal pedestrian traffic light then he would be right. Teksi ah lao didn't do anything wrong wat. So what is wrong? No more pedestrian already, he was waiting for traffic light to turn green. Cab driver turned left at first green... After turn got another red so wait lor... Don't see anything wrong there he did... Maybe I also need retake? Haha That's why I suggest we should all retake basic theory. It was green light in our favour, he was right to stop for pedestrian. However, he just stopped there instead of moving off when it's safe to do so. .... ... .. Because he was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green at the adjacent traffic. nazerath Turbocharged September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 recently encountered something like that at paya lebar and I went thru and was confused. It is the traffic light placement issue. theres a red light in front, going through is beating the red light.

Mcf777 Turbocharged September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 This is the same scenario at 1 of the small lane at little india. From Belilios Lane to Kerbau Rd, towards main road (serangoon road). Always got idiots stop at the red light after turning left
Holdenutessv Turbocharged September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 That's a T-junction what... The taxi can just move off when it's clear of peds. Am I wrong? Do i need to retake BTT?
Dafansu Turbocharged September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 the red traffic light is for those oncoming traffic from the taxi driver right side. He can move after pedestrians have cleared the crossing

GLZT 6th Gear September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe for those who say taxi should go after clear is wrong. If I recall, you are only allowed to cross if the pedestrain line is square dotted, like the one at kovan macdonalds for bus to come out from the old bus terminal.
Nzy Twincharged September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 (edited) I also think supposed to stop. Have to see where the stop line is. Since the stop line is just before the pedestrian crossing, the taxi has to stop since the light is red. The other cars just did not move further forward to stop because there is a yellow box. Looks like alot of people got to retake BTT. the red traffic light is for those oncoming traffic from the taxi driver right side. He can move after pedestrians have cleared the crossing Actually, the red traffic light is for all the vehicles before the stop line. See where the stop line is? The taxi is behind the stop line so got to stop. Move off only when green. Many of us forgot that a solid white line is a stop line. I suggest @AtonChia feedback to the taxi company so the taxi-driver can be reminded of his folly

U said T-Junction should stop, how about X-Junction? Your theory, every junction should stop.

Your theory, every junction should stop. My theory only applicable when there are no traffic lights guiding such as a green arrow. Most if not all cross junction got arrow. Hmmm, after watching the video once more, I know why everyone is confused already. Because this isnt your regular t junction as the traffic light and pedestrain crossing on the left is extended out and not on the edge.
