  Boy brandishing chopper threatens to hack grandparents to death in viral video

A video of a boy locked in a standoff with his grandfather has been circulating on Facebook.

In the video shared by Facebook user Cinderella 灰姑娘, the boy could be seen brandishing a chopper while his grandfather fended him off with a bamboo pole. 

The screaming boy demanded that his grandfather give him money, or he would hack him and his wife to death. 

Several people seen behind the old man could be heard criticising the boy as he waved the chopper around. 

An accompanying caption to the video explains that the boy’s parents were working abroad and left their child to the care of his grandparents.

 

To enable them to keep in touch with the child, the parents passed the boy a smartphone. 

However, the boy later became addicted to a pay-to-play mobile game and kept asking his grandparents for money in order to fund his addiction. 

When the elderly couple came to know about the boy's addiction, they decided to withhold his allowance. 

The boy became enraged, grabbed a chopper and threatened to kill them unless they handed him the money.

This inadvertently led to a standoff between the kid and his grandfather.  

It is unclear where and when the incident took place.

saw the clip some time back. Think it's addiction to on-line gaming, and in china got lots of young adults shotgun, so have kids when v young. They will leave the kid(s) to be cared for by their parents, while the young couple then continue working. The problem is that these young people usually work in the cities, while the (grand)parents are staying in the villages. The grandparents will likely have a generation gap with the kids when they grow up, so there's not much 'upbringing'. The young parents and the grandparents will then dote on the kids by giving them toys when young, and expensive gadgets like PC or tablets when older, to keep them occupied and maybe to 'make up' to them for the lack of parental care/concern.

 

The problem arises when the kids got into (paid) gaming, and got addicted. Then to continue, they will want to have money to play and win, and when the parents/grandparents find out and try to put a stop to it, the kids (who have been too pampered for too long) gets angry and extreme things like this happen...

Just listen to the recorded conversation: During the six-minute exchange, the son is heard telling his mother “Boy say boy likes mother. This is between us.” and “I remember everything, I remember everything, mother, I didn’t forget. I remember. I like. I want again.”

Man who abused toddler after taking drugs jailed, caned

 

A man who abused a two-year-old girl while under the influence of drugs was sentenced to 10 years and nine months’ jail along with eight strokes of the cane by the State Courts on Tuesday (8 May).

 

Suhaimi Juma’at, 46, had pleaded guilty last month to one count of ill-treating a child in a case that was described by the prosecution as “shocking”. He also pleaded guilty to four drug-related charges.

 

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Marshall Lim had urged the court to jail Suhaimi a total of 10 years and nine months as well as to have him caned for the ill-treatment and drug charges.

 

Lim said Suhaimi was under the influence of drugs when he committed the offence, and that the child was defenceless and too young to articulate words of distress. He also pointed out to the court that the girl’s entire diaper was soaked in blood when the child arrived at the hospital.

 

District Judge Kessler Soh agreed with the prosecution and handed down the jail term the prosecution sought, including eight strokes of the cane.

A teenage girl in India has been raped and burned alive by her attacker - the third instance of such an attack in the same week.

 

The 16-year-old girl died after being soaked in fuel and set on fire at her home in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.

 

Police said she was killed after telling her attacker she would inform her family about the rape.

 

Two other similar attacks, one fatal, took place in Jharkhand this week.

 

A 17-year-old girl remains in critical condition after being set on fire by a suspect who allegedly said he wanted to marry the victim , but had been rejected.

 

The earlier case involved a 16-year-old who was burned alive after her parents complained to village elders about her rape. The accused had been ordered to do sit-ups and pay a fine as punishment, prompting them to beat the girl's parents and kill her.

 

In the most recent attack, the victim was at home alone in Jujharpur village when she was attacked. Police said they had arrested a suspect, named as 28-year-old Ravi Chadhar.

 

Widespread outrage

India is facing renewed public outrage over the number of violent sexual assaults in the country.

 

BBC India correspondent Soutik Biswas recently wrote that "rape is increasingly used as an instrument to assert power and intimidate the powerless in India".

South Dakota Mom Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison for Beating Son to Death For Wetting His Bed

 

A South Dakota mother, who beat her 2-year-old son to death after he wet the bed, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Tuesday.

Katrina Shangreaux pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for beating her son, Kylen Shangreaux, to death two years ago.

Shangreaux, 30, told investigators she had hit Kylen with a studded belt, threw him on the ground, kicked him in the stomach and head and bit him several times, the newspaper reported.

Kylen had 111 external injuries with about 70 percent of his body covered in bruises, according to the outlet. He had broken ribs and had bleeding on the brain and also in his abdomen and had severe injuries to his groin. She did not call 911 until three hours after his death.

Her attorney, Thomas Harmon V, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Shangreaux’s mother, Sonya Dubray, allegedly helped her cover up the crime scene and clean up Kylen’s body.

CBS News reports Dubray allegedly also cleaned Kylen’s clothes and misled investigators about the alleged abuse he received at the hands of his mother.

Dubray pleaded guilty to being an accessory and hindering the investigation, the outlet reported.

Kylen’s paternal relatives, including his aunt Angie Shangreaux, had taken care of him for a year until Katrina regained custody of him.

Angie addressed the court on Tuesday, asking the judge to give her a life sentence.

“You’re the last person who can give Kylen the justice he deserves,” Angie said. “I’m begging for what would be a lifelong sentence for her.”

The outlet reported she turned toward Kylen’s mother and said, “I hate you. I will never forgive you. You deserve hell.”

Kylen’s father is serving time in prison for abuse and neglect of another son with a different woman.

Foo Shun Xiang, 37, with obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD) flew into a rage when he saw his father using the same piece of tissue to wipe his mouth as well as nose.

Foo hit Mr Foo Sah Leong, 68, with a 1.2m aluminium pole and still continue beating the older man even when he started bleeding. When Madam Chow Ah Lee, 65, tried to intervene, Foo used the same pole to hit his mother multiple times until it broke.

The beating cause Madam Chow to suffer 3 fractured ribs. After the attack, the jobless man told his parents to take a shower as they were covered in blood.

Foo pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday (Oct 16) to 1 count of using the pole to cause grievous hurt to Madam Chow. A second assault charge involving his father will be considered later during sentencing.

Foo who was diagnosed with OCD in 2009 fears dirt and contamination. Despite this, he refused to take his prescribed medication regularly.

Foo has a history of being controlling towards his parents. He would monitor their movements and would instruct them to adhere to certain cleanliness "rules"and to perform cleaning rituals to his satisfaction.

Foo would scold and hit his parents if they disobey his instructions. He wanted to ensure that they would follow his prescribed ways of doing things.

Foo's parents were afraid of their son as he was liable to turn violent at any moment.

From 2009 till 2018, Foo assaulted them on at least 4 occasions. These incidents were not reported to the police as Foo had threatened to hit his parents if they did so.

Foo was at home with his parents in their Chai Chee Drive flat at around 11pm on Jan 28 2018 when he saw his father wiping his mouth and nose with the same piece of tissue.

Foo threw away the pole into a rubbish chute after the assault. His mother complained of severe pain in her left rib cage at around 5pm the next day and both parents went to Singapore General Hospital.

Before they left for the hospital, Foo raised his voice and threateningly told his parents to tell their doctors that they sustained their injuries from being attacked by dark skinned foreigners who robbed them.

Foo's parents did as they were told but the truth emerged after a nurse who attended to Madam Chow lodged a police report on Jan 31 about the purported robbery.

At first, Madam Chow told police on Feb 1 that robbers attacked her but she finally admitted the next day that she had lied to protect her son.

Foo, who is now in remand, is expected to be sentenced on Oct 23.

US teen allegedly bakes cookies with grandfather's ashes and shares them with classmates

Some students at a California high school may be swearing off cookies forever, after a classmate allegedly baked her grandfather's ashes into a batch of the sweet treats and offered it to them, reported the Tribune News Service on Tuesday (Oct 16).

 

A female student at Da Vinci Charter Academy, a public charter high school, took the baked goods to school on Oct 4 and gave them to at least nine other students, said Lieutenant Paul Doroshov from the Davis Police Department.

 

"Some students knew (about the extra ingredient) beforehand and still consumed the cookies," he said.

 

When asked about whether the allegation seemed credible, Lt Doroshov gave a long sigh and said: "Yeah."

 

He added that two female students took the cookies to school, according to a school resource officer. Lt Doroshov also said that the relationship between the two girls is unclear, but they are not siblings and the dead man was the grandfather of only one of them.

 

A student at the school, Andy Knox, told California television station KCRA-TV that he was offered a cookie when entering a class.

 

He assumed it was marijuana when told about a "special ingredient", but later realised what it really was.

 

"I didn't believe her until she pulled out the urn," said Andy.

 

"If you ever ate sand as a kid, you know, you can kind of feel it crunching in between your teeth. So, there was a little tiny bit of that," he said, adding that the cookie did not taste unusual though it did contain "tiny grey flecks".

 

Lt Doroshov said that the police are investigating and have been trying to see which penal code applies to baking human remains into food.

 

He added that officers considered a California penal code section regarding the disposal of human remains in an improper manner, but also said that public nuisance charges may be more appropriate.

 

The authorities are working with the school to determine how best to proceed, said Lt Doroshov.

 

Da Vinci Charter Academy principal Tyler Millsap said in a letter to parents that "this issue going on right now has been particularly challenging and our staff has responded appropriately and in the most respectful and dignified way possible for all the students and families involved".

 

Mr Millsap said he regretted that the story "has been taken up by the media" and said that there is no health risk to any students.

 

"I can say that those who were involved are remorseful and this is now a personal family matter and we want to respect the privacy of the families involved."
