Hi all,

I know the model as per title is very old. But if there is anyone who has any inputs about the car to share I would be really grateful.

The car I am looking at is the 730LI and is reasonably good condition. I must also add that it could be my first Bimmer :) but not first old car.

Is there any things to look out for in terms of maintenance and up keep.

It has been used as a daily drive. And currently serviced at a workshop. But I am open to looking for new one.

My current mech does not specialise in it as far as I know.

Buying classic usually involves emotion. If really interested, get a specialized workshop to check it out.

BMW-SG has list of site sponsor which specialises in BMW.

Yup am reading through BMW-sg now.

Emotion part is true it has hooked me to the point where I don't mind going slow on the roads :P

Hopefully I get it for a weekend to test drive around to see how it feels like.

But if I don't take it, it should be on SG carmart. In the weeks to come.

Its is in pretty good condition but the test drive will reveal.

Oh that's where the car has been serviced at. This car is black.

Managed to take the car for a long spin. Its is in awesome condition on the inside and outside and no funny sounds on start up despite the heavy rain. Accelerator felt v heavy and low end response was a bit weak. But it was really v good on the expressway every thing worked fine. Than I tried to lower the seat back bad mistake it collapsed backward.

Other than that at higher speeds above 80kmh when you release the throttle the engine brake seem to make the car wobble.

Gear lever is v loose and the button to engage is a bit spoilt.

Now faced with the dilemma to buy or not to buy.....

Dad used to own an E32 730iL in the mid-90s... Should be last batch.. Wonderful car, spacious, great handling, 200+km/h up north does not feel bumpy at all... Didn't have much reliability problems then.. My family has been driving bimmers for quite some time, my previous car was E36.. PM me if you want our mech BMW specialist..

Suggest you send it to a bmw workshop and check things out. Parts are not that easy to come by.

you answered your own question.

one dont buy car based on asthetic value. Mechanically sound is more important. If the drive dont entice you, you know you got the answer.

Nope not yet planning to if time permits this weekend.

Agreed but the price is good at least for me. Might keep it as a hobby car instead or getting another bike (Yes the bimmer costs as much as the bike I am eyeing). Will pop down to R2D as well to check on the car. Thanks for the comments guys.

Haha brother trust me including the Rd tax for the remaining 5 yrs it is still cheaper than the bike I am eyeing.

Some people have so much cash that they do not know what to do with it

Bro future planning la we have 2 cars at home one for me one for the in laws which is a bread and butter car.

My own car is ending its COE soon. And my in laws don't drive much. So the idea for the 7 was a large car to take every one out in comfort during the weekends.
