kobayashiGT Internal Moderator December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Hi all, Just wondering how many people would take into consideration of a ample car trunks when buying a new car? I realize not many car reviews will have such features that help people to visualize this issue. ↡ Advertisement
Vhtfhwlego Supercharged December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 I buy my first alfa, I request to try to put my baby pram & car seat in first. When I buy my second alfa (coupe), my 100kg buddy to sit behind.
Watwheels Supersonic December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Perhaps it's essential if it's a small or compact car. Usually mid and large size sedans dun really have an issue. MPVs or SUVs also dun have much issues.
TameDriver Twincharged December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Depending on the buyer's requirements, eg., golf bag, wheelchair, baby pram/stroller. Occasionally, for luggages. Of course, when it comes to sports car, it doesn't matter. :)
Watwheels Supersonic December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 (edited) I think car makers today know what car buyers are looking for. If they built a family car and the trunk cannot accommodate a pram that's more or less a failure. Same for a lifestyle car. Say a cabriolet, car makers have golfers in mind and make sure a golf set is able to fit even with the roof down. If a car's rear sits have ISO fix points and yet cannot fit childseats what's the point? I think car makers have done their research so that we dun have to bring so many things to the car showroom to try things out. So it's down to small or compact cars. Not everyone has the budget to buy the car they want. If their budget can get them a small car and they have a family to fit the trunk test would be essential to them. Vega Turbocharged December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 I always look at reviews in youtube for those models I am interested in and they do have truck capacity reviews. one such good review is the Taiwanese channel buycartv on youtube. very objective feedback.
TameDriver Twincharged December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Come to think about it - yes it would be helpful to include a couple of pics in the brochure for customers to visualize the trunk capacity.
13177 Supersonic December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Car trunk space very important, the car trunk must be able to fit in items like pram, stroller, wheelchair, car seat and 25-28 inch lugguage bag. Thts why i always find hatchback car not very practical. Lol.

I think most review have them. CarBuyer.uk also like to mention the shape of the boot. Most preferred is the square shape. It will be good if the trunk opening is big, minimal load lip or the trunk is level with the load lip so that you won't hurt your back. They will always put in one or two luggage bags to let you have a rough idea. Usually those who can't even pass the luggage tests are roadsters or some model from Lotus. LoL... Xers007 Supercharged December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Yes, to my family the trunk is impt, but how big it is was not under our consideration when we bought the current car... however the trunk size is the largest in the car class...

You can have it all...if you install a set of roof rack and have a roof box. But how often do you use all of the seats? Get a minibus if you have too many ppl around. The boot size is important because when we go out we usually bring a stroller along. Isn't that what MPVs are for? My family does have a minibus but it can't go into many MSCPs thats why MPV still more practical. Edited December 17, 2014 by Nzy

With your maid just using one seat in the last row you still have space. I'm also driving a mid size MPV. I have a 20month and a 4yo, my mother and my wife. Mother sit in front, my wife seat in between the kids. Last row of seats not used but for 1pram, 1buggy and other barang barang. It depends on how big your child seats are and how you seat your passengers.
Baal Supersonic December 17, 2014 Share December 17, 2014 Good idea. Get a mpv with 3 indv seats in row2?. Kids in 3rd row no good... the space between row3 and the back door to near for comfort. ↡ Advertisement
