Lousy reunion dinner

have never eat out for quite a number of years and this year decided to do so in a restaurant at Boon Keng.

 

seriously, i went tothe near by mac to buy a fillet o fish to chill myself after the whole course. For something that cost 450 bucks, it is so lousy that i would have chosen to trade the whole course for a plate of 炒粿条。

 

seriously i kid you not. Ok, rant over....time to go toilet and let the asssssss do the rest and forget about it.

Maybe the head chef not around, workers not happy, too busy and do rush rush job. I guess the you can get the same meal for $300 if not because of cny.

 

Lesson learnt and either go for better restaurant or cook at home.

It was like a wedding dinner and everyone was made to eat the same "food".

 

All the dishes served is wet type, meaning its all steamed and none is fried or deep fried. The only drier dish is the 鱼生。

To add injury to insult, dessert was all poured from a can of pineapples and longan....

Would rather spend half the money on great ingredients and cook at home.

Was at ban heng ytd, though its not my first time. So I didn't expect much. Bougfht drinks from mac too. Too many ppl kway shio and too little fans.

well parents were going oversea the next day so decided not to cook and mess up the place.

 

imagine with that money to buy wagyu beef in a steamboat...shiok!!!

Actually no need to really cook one. Just buy a portable steamboat and some gas cartridges, dump the ingredients inside and start eating. Nice and simple. Healthy and delicious.

 

This way, everyone gets involved in one way or another also. If real cooking kitchen, everyone will 'eye power' except the cooker.

Its not that bad I guess. Though the food sucks and the plates are not thoroughly washed.

The hassle for steamboat is more of thr preparation. Slicing and marinating.

Had mine w family last sun at ah orh. Paid 400+ but didn't think food was delicious. But at dintaifeng w another gp of family members last sun earlier, taste much better n bill was only 100+. Ytd bot a honey roasted chix fr giant n shared w own family shiok la n at under $6!!! That was followed by packet of grape at $3.

 

Mayb I don't like seafood as much as regular chinese cooking.

This is clear effect of the much talk abt hollowing out. PRC chef go home for CNY, no local knows how to cook. So the taste all goes haywire. Prepare to see more pinoy part timer whipping up chinese dishes and pinoy lion dance troops.

But we were seated in 20mins time, n as order taken while we were q-ing food was served some 10mins later. Mgr also apologized for manpower shortage but we think they're doing fine despite whole rest was packed w mostly students.

I had a reunion dinner at the restaurant at Toa Payoh Industrial Estate Block 1002 there.

 

Food so so, service not good, and this was more than a week ago. Worst thing was desert they just serve from the bottle straight, didn't even pour out. Totally not worth the money.
