Advancer 3rd Gear April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 what "f**kup" feature? Talking about auto headlights? It sounds like safety feature to me agreed, safety feature to me as people tend to forget to turn on headlights as the dashboard are all lighted up even at night without headlights on. ↡ Advertisement
HdBanger 1st Gear April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 (edited) Quick update/replies. Been busy lately. Workshop: I sent mine to Sin Ming. Door unlock problem solved. But advisor (surname is Liaw) didn't hear me correctly, and locked my door when I'm off 'P' position. Boot closing problem rectified. One thing I noticed is their engine oil needs a top up if wanna use better grade (Motul). Anyone encountered this? What's your decision? Original oil is not fully synthetic or what? DRL: It's turned on once the engine is started. I wished the sg model followed other countries where the DRL is mounted on top of the fog lights. And leave that 'small' light alone. Auto-headlights: I'm a new user to this feature (G9 user previously). Many rides (different brands) also equally guilty of not turning on headlights at nite. I am still using manual approach, discipline myself to turn on/off lights when needed. Should see if the green headlight icon at the RPM gauge is turned on as a reminder. Bulbs: What I didn't like about their specification in the manual is that they don't write bulb type. Wedge = T10 or T15? Tyres: In case many of you didn't know, I got this info from the Altis forums in M'sia: the tyres tend to be overinflated upon collection. If you don't like the bumpy feel, double check the pressure. Mine was about 260 iirc. Steering Wheel: Anyone with the alignment a little off? Mine seems a little to the right when I take my hands off. I'm still a little skittish with their electric steering motor. Edited April 23, 2015 by HdBanger

Boot difficult to close? how did they rectify it? manual: i saw the page too. not clear enough. both t10 and t15 are wedges. even dome bulbs have different length. boot: they didn't explain when i collected car. prob they adjusted the lock. much better now. no need slam with brute force. previously have to attempt 5-6 times.
Kklee 6th Gear April 24, 2015 Author Share April 24, 2015 I just want to share an experience that happened yesterday night. I had noticed that my dash instrument panel was suddenly brighter than usual - tried to look for the setting to reduce the brightness but didn't manage to locate it. When I reached my destination, I realized that my headlights was not turned on - it was not in the "auto" mode !
HdBanger 1st Gear April 26, 2015 Share April 26, 2015 I believe every car has an indicator on the dash to tell you whether your headlight is on, and whether it is on high beam. In the old day, the dash was not lit up at night unless you turn on the light. But nowadays, almost all car has the dash light up by default, you have to read the indicator to know if your headlight is on. The indicator is there. Green icon, on the rpm meter, just above the water temp. Even in auto mode, the green icon works when the light is turned on by itself.
Kklee 6th Gear May 6, 2015 Author Share May 6, 2015 Bits of info update 1. For Night driving AYE->MCE->KPE, Altis dashboard indicates about 22.2km/L 2. Coolant temperature maintains around 90 degrees Celsius. 3. Battery Voltage maintains around 13.7 volts.

Original oil is not fully synthetic or what? The last I check, BM supplies either Shell or Castrol. Both synthetic but I am not sure how synthetic they are. Castrol have one which is like semi synthetic which has magnetic. I just hope it is not this. I prefer Castrol over Shell. I did some "research" on Motul. IIRC, it is thinner which results in better revving and FC. The only concern I have is the wear could be elevated. I actually prefer custom blend for FC and protection. I did that for my Chevrolet Optra previously.

When I reached my destination, I realized that my headlights was not turned on - it was not in the "auto" mode ! Not too sure whether you guys notice or is it mine... As my lights are in auto mode, whenever passing under some darker areas, the lights on the LCD screen and odometer will suddenly become darker / brighter ... and can just hear some faint sound on this "turn on / off" sound ... Is it normal? Is it that they transferred the power to the headlights and then dim the lights on the LCD screen and odometer? Just wondering?
Nissan833 5th Gear May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 If no cars infront to test reflection, you can see the cone of light on the floor one leh.. unless you driving those very low sports car, for sedan and SUV all can see one.

They go dim as it goes to 'night mode' to reduce glare. You just don't notice it at night but night setting is dimmer

Abit irritating if going up MSCP during daytime.I read the sensitivity can be adjusted. Edited May 7, 2015 by Kklee

Is it normal? Is it that they transferred the power to the headlights and then dim the lights on the LCD screen and odometer? Just wondering? Usually during daytime, the instrument panel illumination is set to be fairly bright as the ambient lighting (sunlight) is very bright. When headlights turn on, it signals to the car that it is nighttime, with low ambient light conditions, so the instrument illumination must tune down so as not to blind you looking it it. If this is not your first car, you should have noticed this happening on most other interior illumination - for example the illuminated buttons for your aircon or audio system.

Like smart phones, now you have SMART CARS (same concept). But being too smart can be irritating like someone mention drving in MSCP and in tunnels.
