Maintenance of FD2R is just like a normal FD right?

people who buy FD2R usually will mod it. Maintenance will high depends on how you see it.

I am open to any model so long they are known for reliability & is affordable :yeah-im-not-drunk:

Letting go of my FD2 left 2 years 10 months. Interested? [drivingcar]

Haven't had it checked at professional yet. But thinking about your advice, I tried turning off the air condition and the noise seems to disappear or more faint.

Air con still cold though when turned on. Only when I hit the acceleration to around 3k rpm the noise will surface. And silent again at cruise.

Intend to get the serpentine belt change these couple of weeks. Condition of belt still looks ok with no visible crack.

it could be the magnetic clutch. easy cheap fix. but easily tio tok by workshops  [knife]

I know what you mean...easy to tio tok. I have removed the washer from the magnetic clutch about 2 years ago. Air con still going strong. Most people would have replaced the whole compressor.

But thanks for the heads up. Will check on it when I get the chance.

The noise has become softer or less frequent though.

Actually check with workshop as the price difference might not be great enough for you to go through all the hassles.

Also there are people selling oil and have freelance mechanic to replace for you at small charges.

Some people do not mind paying a little more to save themselves the time/effort.

what you have mentioned is true, but the long waiting time is a very major deterrence. or has the situation improved recently?

Best is to call up before going over. You may drive over to let ah heng to take a look first than see what is happening to your car than try to arrange on Saturday morning at 10am put your car there and collect in noon or evening depends on what you doing. This is how I send my car for repair. Edited by Ghost777

that's what those folks in SHC/Civic Club told me since day one. so the situation has not changed since. unless you live nearby, it is very inconvenient for a customer to leave the car there and collect it later.

several times, i went down there at 9am, hoping to be the first few customers. there were already 7-10 cars waiting outside the workshop. i believe the workshop's business hours start at 10am. in the end, i gave up and stopped going there.

I stay in the north part. It depends on 2hours repair or 6hours repair. As long you have arrange with the boss, as for 2hours you may go to nearby coffee shop eat serve net with your phone times fly fast. If 6hour major repair than just book a grab back home and come back later most is $50 transport fee. Can discount back from the boss, not a issue.

the workshop at Caltex located along Upper Thompson Road.

in future, you might want to consider MX Tradings which sells engine oils, ATFs, spark plugs etc. there are 2 freelance mechanics on Sunday to perform replacement of engine oil and simple servicing for customers of MX Tradings. the labour charges are very reasonable.

1. has the undercarriage been inspected? check for worn bushings.

2. is the fan worn out or is something around the fan loose?
