Wedding Anniversary - Gifts

Couldn't find a suitable folder, decided to create in lite & ez.

Its 10th year anniversary.

Net search says blue sapphire is an alternative gift to the traditional diamond. Great idea, diamonds are too mainstream, too common, too boring.

Questions:

1) beside blue sapphire, are there alternatives?

2) is where is a good jeweler to get blue sapphire?

3) do these gems have certification of any sort (like GIA for diamonds?

Any tips appreciated!

I usually believe in buying her a good memory and experience, not material. I never bought her any flower, diamonds or LV [sweatdrop]

Congrats on your 10th anniversary!

Jewellery got too many types, what type very much depends on personal preference too

Must see if she likes blue sapphire or not

Like jman's idea, having a memorable experience is a great way to celebrate

It's the thought that counts, but a gift would really be nice too~~~

Ask what wife wants .... But what she wants, if you can afford :))

But to a wife, what she wants dearly is to have a devoted and loving husband by her side .... And to have a lovely family with healthy kids :))

May I suggest to give your wife a loving hug and kisses everyday ... for this will be the best gift :))

Thanks all for ur inputs!

I bought her to choose a rolex for her 35th bday last year. :)

This time, I'm choosing la, so want to get a gem.

So the question is as the in post 1 -

1) what other type of gem (not diamond)?

2) where to buy the gem?

3) do such gems have certification?

:)

Rolex is a very nice gift

Diamond is a girl's best friend, hard to go wrong with it

Besides diamond, I think the next gem to consider is like what you mentioned sapphire

Sapphire is classy and gorgeous

A nice combi would with sapphire in centre and surrounded by diamonds

There are AIGS certified sapphires around

In our usual jewellery retailers such as lee hwa etc, most store would not have a lot of selection, maybe you can call the major ones and ask them to check and let you know which store has the most selection before making the trip

GSS is coming, if you can hold for another 2 more weeks, I think there will some bargain around too

Hope u will find something your wifey like!

Blue sapphire is blue diamond, ruby is red diamond....still diamond not gem stone just different name different colour. Also got to look at its different shades of blue and clarity. I also dunno how to see. They are in the diamond price range. Like I mentioned they are coloured diamonds

To me stones still doesn't hold value unlike gold. And the mark up from brand names what you are getting is very ex. Not worth what you are paying for.

For anniversary IMO I prefer to shower wife with what comes from the heart rather dan luxury gifts.

I'm one of those lucky guys that never have to buy gifts for my wife as I gave her my trust as a husband, gave my love to our only son.
