White Smoke from BMW E90- Almost got into accident

I have seen many E90 3 series pre and post facelift emitting white smoke from the exhaust during the stop and go traffic.

 

Last evening was raining very heavily and I am quite surprise the car actually caught fire as the ambient temperature was around 23 Deg according to my on board display .

 

A pity as I personally like the design of the E90 3series, it gives off the timeless understated design .
