Audi A4 and above uses the Longitudinal Gearboxes which are different from VW's dry clutch transverse DSG.

The front wheel drive Audis on the new A4 1.4, and current gen A6 and A7 uses the DL382-7F wet clutch gearbox while the Quattro variants found in the A4 and A5 2.0L uses the DL382-7Q. So far I havent heard of any major gb issues from these vehicles.

Does that mean that as long as the 7 speeders are DL382-7x, it will be ok?

The current A3 7-speed S-Tronic, is it 382 also?

Also, wondered if those who bought the A4 B9 current model, do you guys need to top up engine oil regularly like the previous model? Any feedback on the ride will greatly be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

I bought the A4 Audi 1.4 TFSL yesterday.  There were initially 10 units (as advertised on the newspaper), then they increased to 30.

Showroom was crowded.  Test drove the car and made the decision.  Solid feel, but no VC, standard base model, no freebies, no accessories.  But I think the price is one of the lowest I have seen for a while.

Anyone else bought?

Anyone knows how the current promo for A4 works? $145999 for myaudiworld night event fleet. Sounds like the lowest price thus far.

i bot mine during the 'factory outlet' sale in early Sep... base price $147,999 with no freebies. COE was secured at $57k. So compared to this event car sale which is cheaper but is an event car, I guess pricing had stayed abt same.

So far so good the car... love the acceleration frm stop. Had added a reverse camera and change the front grille to chrome which makes my total price just cross $150k.

For those using the DL-382, should be ok. You can google about it, hardly anyone complaining about the gearbox. :)

While A4 and higher uses a longitudinal engine layout (Gearbox with DL initials), the A3 and below has a transverse engine layout (DQ), so its using the dry clutch DSG DQ-200.

For me, every 7500km need to top up 1L, so they will provide a free engine oil top-up for current A4 owners. On the other hand, most of the owners in the whatsapp group chat so far do not have such a high oil consumption as mine even though I seasoned the engine properly.

Then again, might be because I redline the engine quite often.

Nope 147,999 - with no freebies.

no solar films, no wheels upgrades, no car cameras, no free servicing...

these throw-ins costs a grand or so each... savings from non-promo price more than enough to do these yourself outside.

Cost for the A4 1.4 including a 56k COE is approximately 125k. AD selling the car at 148k.

Compare against 318 - Cost 115k Selling 160 .... C180 - Cost 140k, selling 175k.

Cost and selling prices are my estimate and may not be the most accurate.

Look at the numbers and it is pretty obvious which ADs has the lowest/highest margin.

what about overtrade?

Compare "apple" to "apple", netted price for the car on the road. Overtrades, services credits etc ... there is still the final net price.

Listed price for 318i --- 178,800k, C180 - 185,888 and A4 ... 168,000.

Netted Price (Estimate) - 318i - 160k +, C180 - 175k + and A4 - 147k (latest price),

Does A4's 148K price tag come with sports/bucket seats, driver seat memory settings, GPS and 3-year data SIM connection for BMW's ConnectedDrive services like real time traffic info, news, weather, etc? Those are included in the 318's 160K price tag. Just want to see what are the differences. TIA.

You are definitely right ... every ADs play the game differently. Some will throw in this/that ...GPS, Connect drive etc. . Not to mention, the 318i is using the 3 cylinder engine, the A4 1.4 4 cylinder and the C180 ... 1.6 engine. The consumer has to do look into the details - specs, accessories, etc etc. There are so many things to consider.

I am just comparing net price on the road.

Have you sat on the A4 seats? They are just as comfy and nice to sit on. :) How I know? Former BMW 3 series owner here.

Also, the high wear areas on the seats are made of real leather (the other places are made of artificial) as compared to the full artificial leather.

Unfortunately, there are no memory seats on the base model, which is a bummer to many, but at least they are also electric as compared to the C180.

GPS wise, Audi has Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Can display/reads out your messages, show GPS with google's traffic data (Waze coming soon for Android Auto), weather, news, spotify, etc. all integrated without having to touch your phone after plugging into Audi's MMI system. Plus free updates all the way!

If want compare to Audi's integrated GPS system, yes it is more expensive than base A4 and now costs $157,499 (still $2.5k cheaper and yet $5k higher omv as compared to the 318i), but it comes with a larger central console display, touch pad on the scroll wheel for typing, google earth maps, google map search, google street view, Wifi hotspot for up to 10 devices (great if picking up overseas friends and tablets without internet data) and 3 years free updates with an update once every 6 months. Oh and also have a full digital speedometer (virtual cockpit), the most abused marketing tool by PA.....

Audi A4 also has three-zone climate control (rear aircon can also adjust temperature settings Digitally), 10 speakers, while engine has lower fuel consumption, accelerates faster, lower road tax (but minimal difference), more comfortable (softer suspension and non run-flat tyres), more practical and IMO a much much nicer interior design.

Last but not least, lower depreciation.

But if those mentioned above doesn't matter and people prefer a slightly nicer handling ride, have a peace of mind with a Torque Converter ZF Gearbox and more "atas" badge, 318i is better than the A4.

EDIT: I would also like to point out that the A4 was chosen with an open mind. The 3 series, c class and XE are great cars as well, but I went in without being biased and selected based on score.

This was the selection matrix and it was based on personal opinion only,

i) Price: A4 > XE > 3 series > C Class

ii) OMV (Based on various posts in Conti Talk): XE > C Class > A4 > 3 Series

iii) Practicality: A4 > 3 Series > C Class > XE

iv) Comfort: C Class > A4 > 3 Series > XE

v) Interior: A4 > C Class > XE > 3 Series

vi) Exterior: C Class > XE > A4 > 3 Series (A4 B9 looks similar to the B8 and F30 is outgoing model)

vii) Handling: XE > 3 Series > A4 > C Class

Hi there, I got it too. Was there on sat, wasn't very crowded. So the agent didn't throw in anything?

Was also told that there's only 10 units, didn't know it increased to 30, whoa.

What colour you chose?

Any idea when will be collecting the cars?

Other than this forum is there any other Audi Singapore forum that owners usually seek and provides help as well as meet ups?
