Evo9 Clutched August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 Hi everyone… Around one to two weeks ago, I’ve met an accident when I was driving towards to Jurong from Bukit Batok Road. So my accident occurred at a T-Junction where there are traffic lights and red light camera. As I was going straight as the green light favors me, I was driving forward and so when I approached the traffic light, suddenly a car from the right appeared into my direction and then we collided…the front of my car hit the side of her car, so after that I alighted and check whether is she OK or not, and she seems to be fine. Then I asked her to move our cars to the side without taking the picture of the scene (I totally forgot to take picture of the scene so I was at fault for not doing so. I only took pictures of her car plate number and the side of her car which is partly damaged)…. So after we moved our cars to the side, I asked her why did she turned when I was already proceeding straight. She told me that she did not see my car, and also she was rushing for time. I asked her whether is there green light arrow or not, she said that there isn’t but she thought there was no car approaching the traffic light so she made a right turn. However, I was afraid that when she was reporting to the insurance, she might twist the story and claim that it was my fault for hitting the side of her car. (As we do not have camera in our car to record to be our evidence and I don’t think there are any witness there) I have also received call from my dad that they are trying to sue against me for hitting her side of the car and trying to push the blame to me and claim that it is my fault. I am also afraid that she will claim that I beat the red lights but I still remember clearly that it was a green light, she has no green arrow and she turned right, and there are red light cameras. The black arrow indicate that it is my car while the red arrow shows that it is the other party's car. Will that be possible that I might lose my case? I am very worried, and will I get demerit points because of this accident? This is actually my first time getting into a car accident. ↡ Advertisement

If according to her story of you running the red light, you would have been caught on the camera, go back to the scene and check if the red light camera also faces along your travelling direction for better proof. If not, you can only scare her into confession. Anyway, did you make a police report that day?

Volvobrick Supersonic August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 Depends on which part of her (car) you hit. If it is middle (doors) and back, it means you must have seen her but did not stop/slow down when she was already half way through. If it is front bumper/fender then your chance of successful claim will be higher. Good luck!
0wnage 2nd Gear August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 If there is a red light camera on your side of the road, then it is unlikely that her story of you beating the red light will be valid. In all other scenarios, you should be having the right of way so you should be winning. Since the other car has a red light camera on her side of the road, try checking with TP if there was any instance of a driver beating the red light on the day and time of your accident. Yup I made a police report on that day already. Just do your due diligence to set your heart & mind at ease, go back to incident scene, take photos of the environment to proof that it would not have been 'possible' to run the red light and if you did, you would have been caught on red light camera. After that, it is up to your insurance company's lawyers to present your case to her insurance company for claims.
Evo9 Clutched August 14, 2015 Author Share August 14, 2015 I have heard that some people actually got 6 demerit points because they got into accident and it indicates that they got 6 demerit points due to Negligence of driving. For my case will I get that 6 demerit points as well? Depends on which part of her (car) you hit. If it is middle (doors) and back, it means you must have seen her but did not stop/slow down when she was already half way through. If it is front bumper/fender then your chance of successful claim will be higher. Good luck! I actually hit the side of her car, but it was already to late to stop as we are too close to each other. She proceeded when my car was already near the traffic light, which means she should actually seen me and not proceed to turn.....
Mysportwish 1st Gear August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 you cannot worried so much now.. leave it to the hand of the insurers and your insurer will definitely be on your side.... usually they settled with 50-50.... on the demerit point, it will depend on TP. my view is that since no one is injured, the police report is just for filing..... unless yours is a chain collision.. my friend is involved in a multi-car chain collision.. he only receive TP warning letter and no demerit point. One thing for sure, expect your insurance to increase... even with NCD protector, the based premium will sure increase.... chicken and egg issue.. NCD protector is not on our side once we have a claim.. cheer bro

Evo9 Clutched August 14, 2015 Author Share August 14, 2015 Normally won't get demerit points unless got injury and TP investigates. But I had slight injury and only 2 days of MC. Does this count as well?
Nzy Twincharged August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 (edited) But I had slight injury and only 2 days of MC. Does this count as well? Not sure. But the normal standard is only 3 days or more MC then considered as accident with injury and need to make police report. Such driver should not drive at all.. And her karma for that accident was she totalled her boy friends' parents car...
Count-Bracula Twincharged August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 It is kuku drivers who make that kind of turn and they always claim they never see you . . . I always look out for kuku drivers. Defensive driving. Bro, if there is indeed a red light camera and no picture taken means you have a strong case against this female kuku driver or kuku female driver. Good luck. Evo9 Clutched August 14, 2015 Author Share August 14, 2015 Anyways, there are only two red lights camera at the side of the road of the whole accident scene. These two red light cameras will be able to capture any vehicle which beat the red light at all side/directions right?
