Some of us might had reservation about the extensive use of computers and digital media in today's classrooms. A recent OECD report confirms this:

Computers 'do not improve' pupil results - latest OECD report warned.

The OECD's education director Andreas Schleicher says school technology had raised "too many false hopes..

The report also mentioned:

  • Students who use computers very frequently at school get worse results
  • Students who use computers moderately at school, such as once or twice a week, have "somewhat better learning outcomes" than students who use computers rarely
  • The results show "no appreciable improvements" in reading, mathematics or science in the countries that had invested heavily in information technology.
  • High achieving school systems such as South Korea and Shanghai in China have lower levels of computer use in school.
  • Singapore, with only a moderate use of technology in school, is top for digital skills

Some sec schools have to buy laptop. All their school homeork and assignment are done online thru their laptop. Sometimes the parent don't know if their are playing games , social media or doing homework.

"If you look at the best-performing education systems, such as those in East Asia, they've been very cautious about using technology in their classrooms... Those students who use tablets and computers very often tend to do worse than those who use them moderately."

- OECD's education director Andreas Schleicher.

some homework are still good to be submitted handwritten. this is to avoid spell checks and other computer aided corrections available.

now when i need to hand write chinese characters, i feel like dying.. i have a vague idea of the shape of e word but cannot write it out. in the end got e word via hanyu pinyin from handphone.. hahahahah

i support semi-technology education system. if not those selling pens and pencils will have no business already..

During an interview Jobs was asked, “So your kids must love the iPad?”

Jobs replied “They haven’t used it. We limit how much technology our kids use at home.

I also limit my kids' use of the iPad on weekends only. Even then only for 30 min to 1 hr.

Should implement usage of fountain pen in schools. LOL....

The handwritings I see today from my kids and other children are just horrible....
