Timeline : 3 Days Mission: Make it Shine A new coat of Blu America Paint Job was done up and we had all been patiently for 3 weeks for the Lacquer/Clear Coat to complete its gassing out and curing process before we start on any paint correction and coating works. It was already a fantastic paintjob but We hope we manage to bring it up a few notches by refining it further. We did a spot wetsanding on some minor blemishes and a 1 Step correction to clear up the Swirls and a 2 Step Finishing Polish to bring the Depth and Clarity of the Paint to a Deep Deep Blue. 2 Coats of BEEDS HD Premium Ceramic Treatment is then coated on to enhance and locking in the Gloss and Shine, protecting the paintwork from the elemtents for 2 yrs and more. Strutting her stuff on the Cat Walk with her Purwheels PUR RS05 heels. Housing its Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brake kit within. This baby will definately Stop as well as it Goes. The Interior is decked out with Carbon Kelvar panels bring for the ultimate pursuit of Light weight and strength, and also because its so nice and shiny! We spoke briefly over the phone and got some background information from her. Conversation went like this... Car Make : Porsche Carrera (First Alarm Bell going off, our experience with soft Porsche paint had been challenging. Perhaps its will not be a Piano Black one) Colour : Black (Alarm Bell rings again, Murphy visiting!) History : Haven't been groomed for 5 years (Riiiiiiiiiing) Car Washing : Once a month at Petrol Kiosk (RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING) Note to self, not to take in any other cars on said appointment day... We started bright and early when I collected the car from her home at 9 am. After inspecting the paintwork over at the dim carpark lot, it already doesn't look positive. More communications with the customer on the expectation and also the timeline. Time line : Same day collection. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He googled the decal that we found on the car and contacted us and wanted us to groom up his car as well! People who knows us probably knows that Bryan is pretty ashamed of his own car as its in a pretty bad shape most of the time. Its almost like a test car with test panels. With the car split down the middle and only one side of the car groomed up and coated. So we are pretty shocked and had a good laugh that we actually got business from that. For this Stunning Macan GTS, its front bumper and bonnet was wrapped with a PPF (Paint Protection Film) and with intricate vinyl designs to make a stunning car stands out even more. There are many different kinds and grades of PPF in the market and we probably discuss those deeply in furture. Customers have ask abt it's Pros and Cons and also effectiveness with us. A good PPF will probably be the only product in the market that will honestly help with stonechips on the front end of your car and its really effective. We have compared cars after going on a road trip up north on the NSHW and coming back for a Car Spa session with us immediately. The difference is appalling. Any PPS Nano Coating system that boast otherwise, probably wont live up to its name despite being advertised or marketed as so. PPF will help to prevent with deeper scratches compared to a PPS as its way thicker and the material is created to absorb and prevent damage. As long as the damage does not penetrate the film onto the paintwork. However, unless the film is being replace, the scratch can still be seen on the car leaving some wrapped cars with swirls and random scratches all over. There is also no way to do Paint Correction on a installed but only a surface clean up service can be done. For the more discerning owner with a keen eye, you will notice the difference in gloss and also the way light is being reflected on the wrapped and unwrapped panels creating a slight 2 tone effect and more obvious as the film begins to age. One solution is actually to have the full car wrapped but the cost involve may put some people off. A good wrapped job involves using Good and Reputable Films which are really costly to begin with,. You will also need a good installer with the skills and experience to go down into the details and doing a good job around the corners. Any mistake made will require the full panel to be rewrapped and using more of the films. Most installers have to factor that cost in to cover for a few rewraps here and there. Akin to Car Detailing, Prices for a PPF instalation can range pretty widely. At the lower end of the market, you can probably do a full wrap for below $1500. However at the upper spectrum of the market, expect to pay more than $6000. Its probably advisable to change ur films every 2 to 3 yrs as it starts to age and may yellow in appearance over time. This is also advisable so to minimise but not fully negate the risk of the clearcoat coming off during film removal process. If Yes, that you can observe the small but jarring difference in the clarity and reflection of it. Sadly, you probably belong to a small group of OCD car lover and be having to spend some more money to have it done with a Detailing Place or DIY it yourself. Sometimes we have customers coming in with newly collected cars for our Paint Protection Services. A common question they might ask is that, "My car is brand new and it does not need any Paint Correction or polishing. Can you just coat on the PPS and give a better price?" All our cars in SG is imported from overseas and they will arrive in SG by Containers Ships. Being out in Sea for months before reaching our shores. Its common practice for the cars to be protected with a plastic film to mitigate Scratches and Corrosive Ocean Breeze etc to damage to the paintwork. Upon reaching our port, its unloaded to the port and ready to clear our customs. depending on the traffic, this could take days or even weeks to be completed leaving the car in the open. Be it a Parallel Importer or a Authorize dealer that you have purchase the car It will go thru a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection), which includes - Accessories Installation (Reverse Cam, Drive Cam etc) - IU installation. - Interior Refurbishment (Some leather works are done locally) - Tinting ETC and finally also a sticker removal process and a "Polishing Session" before the car is handed over to you. Perhaps due to the high volume that their in house groomers have to rush out. A lot of times the paintwork are not fully detailed to its utmost potential and 2 in one products like Polish and Wax with fillers are used to speed up the works and make it nice and shiny on collection day. As the wax and fillers eventually washed out. The true nature of the paintwork is revealed showing some defects that it might be hiding. Majority of the users will not be able to tell the difference but those that can and also appreciates it, will then turn to Professional Groomer/Detailers to bring it to the next level. Getting back to the question. "My car is brand new and it does not need any Paint Correction or polishing. Can you just coat on the PPS and give a better price?" Yes, we can just coat on the PPS for you, but... Firstly, that means we do not know what we are applying the Coating on. It could be a sealant / wax that is lingering on the paintwork. A coating needs a absolutely clean surface for the coating to bond directly onto and into the porous nature of the clear coat for it to perform to its maximum potential. Thus we are then unable to give you any warranty for the PPS applied compared one that have gone thru our full service. Secondly, Take a look at the first photo, this is the image of a Brand New collected car. Observe the reflection of the lights on the left and compared to the right which we have refined. Can you see the difference in the clarity and gloss of the reflection? If we had just coated directly on top of the paintwork without refining it. You will not get the full potential that your paintwork can be and worst, you wont be able to improve it without first removing the coating which is already install. A waste of your investment in the first place. What we do during our New Car enhancement Service is to ensure that any Paint Defects that can be solve with Paint Correction/Refining techniques are done and also to bring out the full potential of the Paintwork before Cleansing it to ensure the paintwork is ready to receive the coating. Our New Car Enhancement Detail plus PPS coating job takes us 6 - 8 hrs to complete to ensure everything is in place when you collect your car and also the warranty for the said coating. I hope we are able to share some information for you if you are in the market for a Paint Protection System. As much as a trusted Product is important, The Installer and also the Process it goes thru before coating of the product is equally important to consider. We have a rather special guest in our humble detailing setup recently. A Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. Most of us will be familiar with the AMG Branch of Mercedes-Benz that soups up their regular Mercedes-Benz models into some might say, "Road Legal Race Cars". Combining Luxury and Speed into a Man's Dream Machine. The Black Series Line take things a few notch higher and making it even more insnae... but in a good way. If the standard C63 wasnt quick enough for you at 451 HP and 443 lb-ft of Torque. The Black Series's Growling V8 now pushes out 510 HP and 457 lb-ft. 0-100km/hr at 3.9 sec and does the Quarter mile in 12 sec Flat! The front bumper looks more aggressive with Intake Mesh with the front splitter comes to a sharp point at the middle of the nose. Flared fenders widen the car by 2.2 inches up front and 3.3 out back giving it the awesome widebody look. Its also describe as a "Affordable" Black Series compared to the the rest of the others Black Series range, CLK63BS, SLK55BS and SL65BS. However, it actually isnt "Affordable" for majority of us as the price tag can probably buy you some nice cars in the Supercar league already. However, like all Black Series cars, they are produced in limited numbers and the exclusiveness also means that only true purist that appreciates it will ever even think about purchasing it and driving it. We had 3 days to work on the car and it was grew on us and we couldn't bear to let it go eventually. Many of our customers that dropped by during that 3 days was in awe of it and complimenting this "Mercedes C Class" looks nice with a nice body kit. BshineGrooming 1st Gear December 14, 2016 Author Share December 14, 2016 Had a call from a long time friend that we haven't been in touch with for a while. He explained that he is going to loan out his car as a Bridal car for his Brother in Law the coming weekend and wanted to groom his car as it was in a pretty bad shape. He told me that it was a Maserati GT in white and had not been taken care of for a couple of years. My initial thought was, no worries, let me sort it out for you and we made a appointment on thursday as the days before that were full. Arriving on thursday and driving it under our workshops light for inspection. I knew something was clearly not right. There was deep swirls, water etching and oxidation all over the car and even clearcoat/lacquer failure on the horizontal panels which usually suffers the most abuse from the sun and also weather elements. Who would have expected that such a Maserati will be in this condition??? To make matter worse, he can only give me 1 day to complete the car as he car has to go to the bridal studio for flowers tying and running errands the next day. Limited in time and also the limited amount of clearcoat that we have to work on. We had to balance Haste with Finesse working on the already thin clearcoat without causing even more damage to the paintwork. Its been a while since we have updated our thread as we were working hard during the pre CNY period to serve our customers with all our heart. We will like to take this chance again to thank all our customers that have entrusted us with their cars to have it groomed for a great start to the New Year! Also to share some of the more interesting cars that we had the chance to work on since we last updated. As Bryan is a huge JDM fan driving the Honda FD2R himself. He really had a great time working on the few iconics JDM that we recieved. First up! Honda Civic Type R EK9 Amos had been a long customer turned friend that been to us multiple times. His previous FD2R that was respray and detailed by us has been sold off due to a growing family. Having gone a full circle to different cars, he has settle back to this iconic Honda EK as his personal toy car and also another MPV as a family one. The EK was also sanded to the bare metal and resprayed from the ground up. Allowing the paint to cure and ready to receive a full detail and coated with SONAX Nano Paint Protect & Polymer Netshield PPS coating. We arrange for John, a customer turned friend who is a hobbyist Car Photographer to come by for a shoot for this iconic car as well. I am pretty sure its easy to spot which are the ones taken by our Point and Shoot Camera VS John carefully set up shots. Will love to improve on our photography skills in the near future. This extremely rare and pristine unit in the original red and while strips is indeed a collector's item now. We are honored to have the owner's trust to do work on it to restore it to its glory it deserves. We will also like to thank John for popping by to take a few quality photos for it before we let it go. Finally, Mazda RX7 FD3S A timeless piece from Japan that have capture many hearts of JDM fans thru out the world. They just don't make cars like this anymore. Made even more popular with the anime Initial D driven by one of the main characters, Keisuke Takahashi, the younger of the Takahashi brothers. It probably have attained a legendary status with a cult following. With its elegant exterior curves and silhouette that captivates the eyes. This is the 3rd car Ben has entrusted with us over the years and has also introduce countless colleagues to us. We are extremely grateful for his trust and support over the years. When I got a text from him to expect a car coming in and to reserve a slot but he was not telling me the make and model. I knew I will be expecting something special. Come appointment day, a black BMW 3 Series roll up to our unit with a low rumble and I initially thought it was a BMW M3. In fact its a really rare Alpina B3 Biturbo this time round. I am glad with the support of many of our successful customers, we are often spoiled with rare and special makes of cars for us to molest which makes our work so much more interesting. Alpina is a company base in Buchloe, Germany. They develops and produces high end BMW cars and works closely with BMW with their processes are integrated into BMW's production lines, thus Alpina is even recognized by the German Ministry of Transport as an automobile manufacturer instead of being a regular aftermarket tuning company. Alpina-built cars are branded and registered as Alpina instead of BMW, although an Alpina can be bought and serviced at selected BMW dealerships, and covered under BMW if there is a warranty issue. Their engine are usually assembled by hand in Buchloe before shipping over the BMW manufacturing plant for installation and the cars are shipped back to Alpina for the final finishing touches. Distinctive features of Alpina vehicles are 20 spoke alloy wheels to the expensive interior materials used to fabricate the exclusive interior fixtures to give it the Alpina touch. Compared to BMW M, Alpina emphasis on luxury, higher torque and automatic transmission. Their Supercharged and Turbocharged engines delivers higher torques at lower RPMs eliminating the dreaded turbo lag. BshineGrooming 1st Gear June 6, 2017 Author Share June 6, 2017 Hamid was a customer that drop by after locating us on SGCarMart listing, this was about slight more than 3 years ago if my memory serves me correct. He was driving a 7 - 8 years old purple Vios and was just looking to do up a polish and sealant service for his car. Upon completing our service, he pick up his car(satisfied I hope) and he left. He "liked" our facebook page after and from Facebook, I realise that we had some mutual friends. (Power of Social Media!) The next time he visited again, he opted for the same service and this time we had a good chit chat where we talked about those mutual friends and also that we found out that we were from the same school even. There will always be some customers that we can relate better to on a personal level and connect, and Hamid was definitely one of them. We always strive to deliver a professional and personal service all our customers and Hamid has became more like a friend now. Being a Orthopaedic himself, he given me professional advice on a knee problem that had been bugging me for years and not only introduce me to his recommended Orthopaedic Surgeon to perform my knee operation last Nov. He even went on to help me set up the appointment with a shorter waiting time. 7 months after my operation, I have him to thank for now I no longer suffer in pain after a long day of detailing at the workshop anymore. Its relationships like this that we slowly forge with our supportive customers that we really come to treasure. Moving beyond a Service Provider / Client role and basically becoming friends. Hamid has come back with a Honda Vezel that he bought 15 months ago and had sent it for a PPS coating back then. He was coming in again for a Full Recoat again and we had our usual jokes and banter. "We are unable to do your car unless we remove the Liverpool Decal" I am a Man Utd Fan and David is a Arsenal fan. Although I repeat this every visit, it may sound silly but still provides 2 silly men with some laughter. His car was filled with decals and I struggle to find a good space to stick on ours and sadly, it has to be stuck together with the Liverpool decal. However, there is 1 decal that we approve of!
