Do you have other recommendations in the area?

Ok will call first. But I am abit sceptical about workshops that strictly don't allow customers to bring their own parts.

Nothing to be sceptical about. It just means the bosses wants to make more money

I have given up on chin auto

Also ask my bro and sis stop going there.

Wearing dirty boots into the car cabin. Making my beige colour interior stained with oil. Common sense, take out the shoe if u are inside the car doing repair.

Never see them put a layer of plastic seat cover over the car seat.

Before u pass the key to them, ask them to check all yr items are working......

Aircon, radio, door lock, power window etc.

They would just shrink their responsibility.

Quoted u the labour price....when comes to payment additional this and that, stating blah blah blah....

I disagree with what some forum members thinks about Chin in AMK autopoint . Neither would I say he is the best workshop around but to get lexus car fixed by Chin should really be no issue... I judge by his experience. One of the very few hands on guy around. His price are ok... I paid more at other workshops that does not even know my car. So I would say do not judge his cheap workshop but his technical skills are valued.

His skills may be great, but it does not mean his workers are skilled too. Most bosses now sit in aircon room n seldom take hands on approach Edited by Forte3737

chin auto wrong diagnoistic almost cost me 2-3K.

pity those car owners who didnt get a chance for 2nd opinion

I ask him where the sound came from. he told me steering rack spoilt. must change whole set.

i sent the car for 2nd opinion.

found out, not steering rack....it is one of the rubber connecting to the lower arm harden. (sorry, im not that well verse on the part name and area). paid about S$600 to settle the noise issue.

till now, many months already...steering rack no sound and still going strong.

Actually there is no other lexus specialist other than borneo motors. How to qualify as specialist? Any one can set up a ws and call themselves specialist

specialist or no specialist, as long as the job gets done properly with due care and diligence, i would be inclined to stay on as a long term customer.

Chin's former workshop is not a specialist in any particular brand or car model nowadays, but it is capable of servicing and repairing a wide variety of Japanese, Korean and Conti cars. even ADs may not have some of the stuff this workshop has.  [lipsrsealed]

Looks like you joined MCF today and defending Chin is fine with me..... don't know about others though.......its a big question mark nowadays...... so clarification on your part would be good too

What model of Lexus do you drive that you sent him?? .... was it just regular servicing??  or was there some issue you had that you brought to them; How old was the car or the mileage when you started sending them for servicing or repairs??

Hi BanCoe

Yup you are right I just joined only because while I was looking at some parts to buy I stumbled upon this topic. Because I have been doing my service and sometimes replacement of parts at Chin workshop which I find it ok to me... I just want to voice an honest opinion. I am riding in an old IS btw. And as u may know... this can only be my last post since they limit my entries. Lol
