What happened to Q-plate cars?

There used to be a lot of Q-plate cars in Singapore, to denote those which are owned by companies as opposed to individuals.

In the 1990s, QEx, QBx, and QCx plates were commonly seen. But now, there are barely any left. Unless it's a very nice plate, such as a few single digit ones, it's very hard to see one on the roads now. The last I saw was QDP, and I was surprised because I have never seen a QDx before.

Any idea what happened to them?

LTA stopped issuing Q plates, they are used for police vehicles now. At least that's what I heard.

QX has always been for government and QY for statutory boards... what I'm referring to is the company car Q-plates.

LTA has done away with Q for company cars. Now company cars use same private plates.

More like the tax incentives were removed making it pointless to register as company car. Companies may still apply if they wish to but who wants to do the extra paperwork for nothing?

In the past many company owners register their cars under company to enjoy the tax incentives but as govt made setting up businesses easier and easier they remove the incentives.

Even QX police cars are seldom seen nowadays.. I guess it's no longer so secretive as before, when plain cloths to go undercover..

Ya, I didn't mean they switched Q plates over to police. They just stopped issuing Q_ plates for company cars. I know QX has always been for police.

With the incentives removed,

companies nowadays switch to buying vans and then add in sofa behind to convert them into passenger cars.

We have lost the 'Q's, but we are seeing many more 'G's than before.

what kind of tax incentives were there?

it seems that nowadays the only reason to keep a Q-plate is if it's a golden number like this:
