You never see or experienced before?

Two lane street, traffic light start. I am on the slow lane and another private car is on my right in the overtaking lane. Empty cab is behind that car, and the cab sees an opportunity to "own" the first passenger pickup right for this section of road even though there are no fares visible up ahead. So he's trawling.

As we move, I move off a bit faster (other car probably playing with cellphone), the cab swerves to tailgate me, swerves to overtaking lane to pass me, then slows right down in front of me, but more annoyingly he controls his speed to keep formation with the other car that has now caught up, so that no one can overtake either of them (more to the point, other vacant taxis).

Probably poetic justice that the last vehicle that got smashed up was also a cab.

I would say it's the red altis's fault.

This kind of road you would expect taxis to stop anytime for passengers. The red altis should have just stopped behind the cab instead of moving to the right lane causing the black car to stop. Want to move to right lane should be quick and decisive and not move then realize the black car is behind and then stop in the middle of the road.

I agree, but the cab is also wrong to stop at a junction under the road traffic act.

If the red car hits the taxi, then the situation will be different. The taxi will have to take full responsibility for stopping at the junction. Now even if submit for insurance claims, the red car will have to bear for the accident. He/She can't blame the cab for stopping at the junction even with the video.

I'm not doing insurance so this is just my 1-cent worth of comment.

No one party is at fault. Usually it takes at least two parties(at fault) to cause an accident. In this case there are just too many.

Actually, if the red car hits the taxi, insurer will still say its the red car's fault. The most is the taxi will claim from the red car but get summon from TP. This is from what I experienced before. The taxi I took was rear ended and I heard from the taxi driver that he claimed fully from the car that rear end him.

Looking at the video again, the traffic wasn't moving that fast, the taxi didn't jam brake, and the red car has plenty of time to react. Too many drivers dreaming on the road.

What's LTA stand on taxi stopping anywhere, anyhow, dying to get a customer ?

Can they stop in the middle of a traffic junction, if a crazy guy stop them in the middle ?

Are there rules to penalize them if caught, say stopping on a illegal place ? Then that taxi should be fined heavily with the video evidence.

They complain about uber and competitions, that they have to maintain standards.

But look at how they behave apparently with no repercussions.

Actually, I think the only one who couldn't stop in time is the yellow taxi. The rest of the cars were stopping already. It looks like the yellow taxi never brake at all and pushed the blue taxi forward causing the whole accident.

Actually in this case, the taxi doesn't seem to have done anything illegal. The only illegal thing is no parking within 6m of a junction. However, LTAs definition of parking is stopping for any reason other than picking/letting off people/goods. So in this case. By LTAs definition, the taxi wasn't parking at the junction which means what he did was legal.
