Don't buy TESCO brand ice-cream (we got ours from NTUC)

We bought this for $9.50 from NTUC - Tesco brand 2L ice-cream that was made in UK.  Turned out to be horrible.  Not sure what happened to it.  Just to share with you.  My helper said that it looked and tasted like expired cheese!  but it certainly wasn't expired.

Don't buy those golden skin honey pomelo from China too. The fibre looks and feel very strange from those of citrus fruits we normally see. It's fluffy instead of fibrous.

When I was in the UK I bought back some pork ribs from UK to make BKT (also under Tesco brand), open the packet got this gone bad smell (was like wtf), next day went back kao peh got a new one open at home still same smell. Next time bought some sainsbury the meat smelt fresh. Then on rule out Tesco's for meat products.

I would say it is more of a transportation problem from warehouse to the sales outlets. I often see goods, both perishables and non-perishables (spelling correct?) being left outside the storeroom for a long while before being brought in to the coldroom. Sub standard way of handling foodstuff.[thumbsdown]

could be shoppers change mind, anyhow put instead of putting back at the freezer area. Then staff see put it back. By then... [shakehead]  Seen so many perishables abused this way.

Ya ya that is true. My son ever told me that when he worked at ntuc during poly break.

I encounter this before buying other brand of ice cream from NTUC too. I believe is handling/transportation issue that caused the ice-cream to melt entirely inbetween the journey and it's being re-frozen. That's why it's in such a bad state.

After such experience I have never bought ice-cream from NTUC ever again. I buy from other supermarkets instead.

Yes, thinking more about it, I guess what you wrote above is probably the cause of it.  It just cannot be that a big brand name like TESCO has sub-standard ice-cream (unless there was a product batch flaw or something).

I bought the NTUC brand ice-cream from the same NTUC outlet before and it was ok.  So I don't know also.

Most ice cream here have palm oil as main ingredient...ntuc ice cream use milk solids..

Expert. Now many brand use the cheapest main ingredient, vegetable oil (palm, coconut .. ) instead of milk to make ice-cream.
