Duplicating Remote Car Keys for my Hyundai i45

Sorry for starting a new topic but I am really at a lost of what to do.

 

Went in to JB to have my car installed with new solar film. Handed over my car keys to the shop and proceeded to have coffee at a shop next to it. When it's done, I paid and drove off my car from the shop not realising that the car keys was not handed over to me. I was able to drive the car as it was started while they were putting up the solar film. However, when I reach my next stop, I was not able to lock my car doors and only then did I realised that the car keys were not handed over to me. I called back the shop and they did a search but could not locate it. I suspect that the keys were left on the ledge of the front wind screen and it may have dropped along the way. Had no choice but to get a private charter to send me home to pick up my spare keys and then return to pick up my car.

 

I am looking at duplicating an extra key just for precaution and hence would like someone to enlighten me where and how much it would cost me to get it duplicated. Saw some advertisements in the website with a wide ranging price from $400 to $1,400. Any bros has any good recommendation that can get this fixed at a reasonable price will be very much appreciated.

Have you tried calling Komoco to check price?

Surprised that you are able to drive the car without the key. I tot it was fitted with a transponder? It should cut the engine after a while. Also it will give out an audible alarm when key is not near the car.

No, I did not check with Komoco as I think they will be giving me a very high price. I did check with Soxximaster but they have requested that I go down to their shop to do an assessment before quoting me.

 

As I have said in my post, I was able to drive the car without the key because I suspect that they have left the keys on the ledge front wind screen near the wipers. I did notice something fallen off from there while driving but did not realise that it was the car keys. Not sure, why the engine did not cut off but it was a very short distance (less than 1 KM) from where I notice something fell off and the place that I stopped the engine.

Im seriously considering getting a I45 yr 2010. Can anyone let me know if this car will have any major problem. If yes will i be able to get the spare part easily.

 

I hear that when new car there was some problem with external sound. Can anyone verify.

I'm driving a July 10 i45 for about a year. So far, no major issues except the need to change for some exhaustable parts. So far, I have change the radiator and cooling fan as the air-con takes a while to cool up plus it keeps blowing air (not cool air) when car is in stationary position. Things improved after I have changed the two parts. As for the external sound, not much but I was once told by the workshop that I frequent to consider changing the engine mounting as the sponge is wearing thin and that may caused a bit of engine noise. No issues with availability of parts though and you can also get them in JB.

I have been driving my year 2010 i45 2.4L for four years already. Car is now 6 years old. Zero problem. Most of my servicings are with Komoco.

 

Regular wear and tear items only :

 

1) Tyres

2) Brake pads

3) Battery

4) Interior light bulbs

5) Rear brake light bulb

6) Reverse light bulb

7) Wiper

 

 

It is not the quietest car, but sound insulation is definately better than my previous cars.

 

 

If you are looking for a comfy n problem-free ride, this will be the car for u.

When I was travelling quite often, it clocks 10km/L average. 70% normal roads. Pumping fuel every week.

 

Pass two years, been travelling only 5 km one way and 10 km one day. 80% on normal road. FC is 7.5km/L. Pumping fuel half tank every two weeks.

 

 

 

 

On MY NSH, clocking 13-14km/L constantly. Cos I usually turn on the cruise control and set the speed.

May i know what is the fuel consumation?

 

My 2.4L i45 does on average 8.3 L per 100 KM or about 12 KM/L in general. There were cases of odd 7.9 L/100 KM occasionally though.

 

My driving is largely 80% expressway 20% local roads and I am not a fast drover to start with. I accelerate gradually and will switch on Cruise Control once I hit 80 KM/Hr.

 

I refuelled about 65 to 70 Litres every week so you possibly can work out how much I distance I covered in one week. For info, I stay in Tampines and work in Jurong West.

 

Cheers, this is one comfortable car with minimal issues and gives me better than expected FE (my friend Camry of similar age is only doing 10.5 to 11 KM/L).
